TLDR: It's been working well for me so far and the assistance program means that I pay nothing out of pocket. Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that affects everyone differently. After I was diagnosed, I searched for stories that might help me understand what living with MS would look like. Each experience I found was different. This post is about my experience with Zeposia. It's the first DMT…
I promised myself that when I moved away from Los Angeles, I would make a sincere effort to socialize. Los Angeles, being the city it is, felt like no matter where you wanted to go, it would take forever to get there. It was easy to talk yourself not to go through the trouble. I'm also an introvert and socializing drains my battery. The best way for me to get around this is to socialize while…
Last weekend I participated in Walk MS here in Philadelphia. The weather was overcast and cool which made walking a breeze and free of MS symptoms. When we reached the 1-mile mark, I felt good enough to walk the full three miles. I even climbed the stairs to the Rocky statue. I am now on a DMT for my MS. I opted for Zeposia - an oral pill taken daily. Other typical options are twice yearly…
Someone out there in Bear blog land took the time to ready my last post and donate to my Walk MS fundraiser. Wherever you are, thank you so much. I hope you are having the best time ever. My new neurologist has set me up with a disease modifying therapy (DMT) which is the standard procedure for slowing the progression of Multiple Sclerosis. I've opted for a daily pill instead of a twice a year…

Such is life with Multiple Sclerosis. At the start of the year after my flare, I couldn’t walk on my own. I took it one day at a time, and gradually my nervous system adapted around my spinal cord lesion until I was able to…
This is the view from the rooftop deck of my condo in Philadelphia. We've been here for a month now and adjusting to living in a city. I've loved the transition to a car-free lifestyle after living in LA for so long. Of course, this means finding clever ways to get all of your groceries home, but I still think it's worth it. Tomorrow we're going to an event where some Center City streets are…
I moved out of state and away from my parents back in 2004. I kept moving progressively westward and ended up in Los Angeles in 2009. In all of this time, I think we visited each other no more than a dozen times. My mother was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in 2020. She was gone by the following year. Thankfully I was able to go home for her last few months and spend time with her. She…
