Actress and activist Jane Fonda was one of the earliest vocal alllies of the LGBTQ+ community in the US, supporting gay liberation since the 1970s and advocating for youth, rights, and equality. She has actively spoke out and opposed anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, has championed transgender rights, and has relentlessly promoted inclusion in her activism.

In 1979, she said: “What this movement is seeking — which is nothing less than respect, justice, and stopping discrimination — [puts you] on the side of the angels. I mean, it’s just, and it’s right. So if we’re going to survive as a world, they’re going to win.”

Nearly 50 years after this 1979 video was shot, at 88 years of age, she remains a key ally of the community and is continuing to be transformed herself.

Today, she’s speaking out on the need to build community for health, wellness, security and as an act of defiance. She reflects on the Monks Walk For Peace, the wisdom of Martin Luther King, Jr and much more. As King stated, hate cannot drive out hate, only love.

Enrich your day today by listening to Jane’s reflections, decades of wisdom and thoughts on harnessing our anger and channel the energy into love. Here Jane shares with us how she’s inhabiting a change of attitude and is even now, at 88 years, transforming her life with new compassion.
