Mercury moved into Cancer this week and I haven’t stopped crying.

UGH.

Everything seems to be setting me off.

SO much has happened in my week that reflects the current astrology—an emotional rollercoaster of extreme highs and lows. It's been difficult to find balance amongst it all, but transits come and go...

For that reason, this article is going to have to be a relatively short one and not my usual essay lol. Although, my previous article is still very much relevant if you’re interested in reading how the tone changes for the rest of 2026.

But first, let's talk about Mercury in Cancer before we move on to one of the more favourable transits of the week and how to work with it...

Mercury governs the way we think, communicate and process information, but it’s also the planet of short-distance travel, learning, and decision-making.

Cancer is the sign of memory, nostalgia, sentiment, and emotion.

When Mercury moves through Cancer, information gets filtered through emotion. We aren’t analysing what happened, so much as we’re analysing how it felt.

Cancer is a water sign ruled by the Moon, associated with emotions, home, and security. The Moon changes sign every 2.5 days so Cancers will always feel like they’re going through an emotional shift on a regular basis—not to mention when we have new moons and full moons and eclipses. It can be rough.

That said, I think Cancer is generally misunderstood—lazy pop astrology will tell you that all Cancers are soft. Have you seen a Cancer get mad? Lol. Don’t get me wrong, the sensitivities are there, but think about the symbolism—the crab. Crabs have hard outer shells. They’re protective. Defensive. They know how to create boundaries between themselves and the outside world. And if you hurt someone they love, you’re probably going to meet a very different version of them.

With Mercury moving through Cancer, pay attention to where communication feels a little more touchy or emotionally charged. People may be quicker to take offence, but on the flip side, conversations can also become more meaningful. Notice where your conversations bring you closer with someone, as it’ll be easier to open up and talk about your feelings.

This may be a time where you look into family planning, fertility topics, hormonal health, therapy…

You may also find yourself thinking about the past more than usual. Old memories, people from way back when on your mind—reflecting on relationships that shaped you. All the emotions coming back up to be processed because you were too distracted to deal with them during Mercury in Gemini!

And speaking of emotional confusion...

The transit you definitely noticed recently was that Mercury-Neptune square:

I don’t know about you, but that one had me completely f*cked up lol.

Still, we survived.

However, as one transit ends, another begins. We're now building towards a Mercury-Saturn square midweek, which may feel a little heavier, more serious, but has the potential to be productive if you can commit to following through with what you’re working on. The more you can define your strategy now, the better…Mercury retrograde begins at the end of the month with the pre-retrograde shadow starting 13th June.

But our saving grace—and arguably the most important transit of the week—is...

The Venus-Jupiter conjunction!

A Venus-Jupiter conjunction happens every year, but once every 12 years in Cancer. This year it takes place on Tuesday 9th June.

So where is 25° Cancer in your chart? (Everyone has Cancer somewhere in their chart. If you're unsure where, leave a comment with your rising sign and I'll help you find it.)

This conjunction is traditionally considered one of the more auspicious alignments in astrology because Venus and Jupiter are both benefic planets.

Venus governs pleasure, relationships, finance, beauty, connection, and what we value.

Jupiter governs growth, expansion, abundance, opportunity, and belief.

This can definitely bring you luck and joy, but I also want you to manage expectations…

Everyone online is hyping this transit up as though all your problems are about to disappear overnight. You know that’s not how astrology works!

Jupiter expands whatever it touches—sometimes that’s great. Sometimes it’s uncomfortable.

If Venus represents desire, Jupiter can make those desires bigger. If Venus represents relationships, Jupiter can amplify whatever is already happening within them.

If there are opportunities available to you, Jupiter can help them grow. If there are unhealthy patterns you keep repeating, Jupiter can make those harder to ignore too.

Expansion isn’t inherently positive or negative.

Many times with Jupiter transits, people find that they are underwhelmed because Jupiter didn’t bring them the huge luck and money flow they expected. Sometimes it isn’t as noticeable, or sometimes the growth comes in a form you didn’t prepare for i.e. increased appetite or weight gain.

As this transit is in Cancer, you could also see the blessings of this conjunction materialise in the lives of those close to you. For example—I’ve been trying to hire one of my contractors since the beginning of the year. She was initially an intern but I managed to extend her to stay on the team as I admired her work ethic and passion for the job. Then I successfully kept her on as a contractor since the company were on a ‘hiring freeze’. Now I have a feeling that this Venus-Jupiter conjunction may bring me good news by way of her finally getting the promotion she deserves.

So maybe this transit will be obvious to you, or perhaps it may trigger a spark somewhere that you can use to build on.

This is actually now getting as long as my typical essay posts lol. But I want to mention one (or two) last thing before I tell you how to work with the Venus-Jupiter transit.

By the end of the week, watch out for a sudden change of mind, change of heart—a pivot or a break in pattern.

Uranus will be at the ‘bending of the nodes’—i.e. Uranus square the nodes.

This is a big deal—the nodes are destiny points. They are karmic in nature and always move in pairs opposing each other in the sky. So you have the North Node (where our soul is moving toward in this lifetime) and the South Node (where our soul has been/past life experience and what feels familiar to us).

Uranus is the planet of shock and revolution. It’s the wildcard planet in astrology—unpredictable and Aquarian-like in it’s energy.

So when Uranus is at the bending of the nodes, it’s like a circuit-break to the system. It may completely shift your mindset or force you out of a routine.

Since Uranus is newly in Gemini, the realisation could come in the form of literal networks, i.e. seeing news of power outages or failures in software or financial systems. This could even apply to you in the sense of upgrading your tech or recognising that you need to get on board with where the future of the world is moving.

But as I mentioned earlier, this could be a mindset shift since Gemini rules our communication and thought process. A sudden and unexpected change of mind about a situation or regarding a person—for example, someone you were dating that you were really into at the start, but now completely rethinking your decision.

Relationships are going to be a big topic this week as we build up to the Venus-Chiron square on the 13th June. Chiron is an asteroid known as the ‘wounded healer’ in astrology, and represents our healing journey. With the Venus-Chiron square, you may feel a little sensitive about your relationships, especially as this is taking place at the critical 29th degree (urgency, culmination).

This may already have been something you’ve noticed this past weekend. At the critical degree point, this transit is asking where you’re still fighting for your voice to be heard. Where you’re fighting for your independence or individuality.

This transit could feel confronting because it’s going to highlight where you’ve been keeping the peace and holding your tongue—where you’ve been over-compromising, playing too nice. This is all about self-worth! Are you happy with how you’ve been feeling lately in your relationships? Or are you going to stand up for yourself and speak up about your needs? I’m not just talking about romantic relationships—this goes for all kinds of relationships with people in your life.

Take it easy this week, there’s a lot of unpredictable energy at play.

So, I’ve mentioned this in a previous article, but I’ve been thinking about how I can offer subscribers a little extra by way of rituals, or using the subscriber chat to share things more openly. It’s not a fully thought out plan yet but I’m going to test paid subscriptions for the first time since starting this Substack—this week marked two years since I began this blog! The majority of my work will still be free access when it comes to my articles as I already have further resources for those looking for extra guidance or something more personalised.

If I were you, I’d definitely be making the most out of this transit, especially as we are soon going to head into retrograde periods and eclipses.
