Today was a good day. I saw my brother, I talked to my sister, and I remembered to take the recycling out. I also ordered groceries and have a therapy appointment tomorrow. Some days are just good days and deserve a moment to just be good.
My sister recently moved out and now I'm living on my own 1 for the first time in like 4 years. Before I moved back to this house, my dad's house, I had my own apartment for a couple years. It was through a support program that had been helping me develop life skills and was seeing me through mental health recovery. I would say that I did okay living on my own. I had developed my own chore…
Today I got a haircut, a mullet. I want to say it's not really a mullet, but it is. To say it's only mullet-adjacent is a shallow way for me to avoid feeling cringe and vulnerable about a haircut I like and have wanted for a long time. I felt good when I left the salon, and knew I'd be talking a photo to share online when I got home. It only feels fair to acknowledge the mullet for what it is.…
Ooh alliteration, fun. My little hydration hack, is a case of water and Mio flavourings. And not just like one flavour. No, no, I use a couple of them at a time to make little water cocktails. I can mix the lemon with the berry or cherry. Or if I want it more citrus-y, I can do lemon and orange. If I want a sweet mix, I'll do the berry with cherry. This appeals to the novelty my ADHD craves, and…
That's the name of this site . You can talk to an "ai" or be one yourself. It's pretty fun, and I spent about an hour on it yesterday, switching between asking questions and then answering them when my credits ran out. It's pretty fun. I don't usually engage with small projects like this, but I enjoyed answering any questions. You get a minute to answer a prompt, either through text or a drawing.…
Today I decided to make myself some dippy eggs (aka sunny-side up, but I call them dippy eggs which I just learned are a different thing), but the yolk broke on one of the eggs in the pan so then I was having scrambled eggs. I don't mind scrambled eggs, but I wanted dippy eggs and the dippy part of dippy eggs kind of needs an unbroken yolk for my toast to dip in. To avoid the unbroken yolk…
Sometimes our most authentic choices are the ones that are the quietest. Just over a month ago I decided to go limited-contact with my mother. I don't need to justify my reasons, but I do need to share some of the story. More for myself than your understanding. I made the decision during an emotionally tense conversation. My mom had admitted that I scared her, that I was unpredictable. I sat with…
I feel like an imposter when I write, especially when I post. I always hated English in school and I'm not sure I learned how to actually write an outline for an essay or utilize drafts. I have been attempting to use drafts more often for my writings. As I understand, a draft is seperate from the finished piece, another document by the same name just with "draft" in the file name. I now realize…
Growing up, I heard my parents talking about money, the price of things rising, but I never really got it. Like I didn't know why they were complaining, but I get it now. I moved out of my mom's house about 5 years ago so I've been doing my own grocery shopping for just as long. Over the years, I've noticed the price of butter go from $4 to almost $9. That's more than double the price in 5 years…
I love alliterations. Before this blog, I spent weeks figuring out a website name and theme and how I wanted people to refer to me. Bear Blog was a blessing to find. It's simple and what I wanted for a website. Anyway, I realized I was circling an old wound. My current subdomain, "originalspirit," was an old Instagram username I had, but I was teased for it by this one kid in class. Since then, I…
