Hello everyone, I hope your Friday is going well. I’m not seeing an ideal setup today that gives me the pricing, risk/reward, and structure I want to open a new position.
That does not mean there aren’t stocks moving. There are always names moving. The question is whether there is a trade that fits my criteria at a price that makes sense. So far today, I’m not seeing it.
I’m also not seeing any trade management adjustments that need attention so far. My existing positions are doing what I need them to do, so there is no reason to make changes simply for the sake of being active.
This has been an unusually erratic week, and in this type of environment I have no interest in forcing a trade simply because the market is open.
One of the biggest advantages you have as a trader is the ability to do nothing.
Cash is a position. Patience is part of the strategy.
I would much rather miss a trade than manufacture one because I feel like I need to put something on. The goal is not to trade every day. The goal is to wait for pricing and conditions that put the probabilities in my favor.
I’ll continue monitoring the market throughout the session. If something changes and a setup develops that meets what I’m looking for, I’ll act on it and send an alert. The same goes for my existing positions. If something requires an adjustment, I’ll manage it when the conditions call for it.
Otherwise, I’m perfectly comfortable finishing the week without forcing a new position or making unnecessary changes to trades that are already working as planned.
I also have a couple of stocks on my radar that deserve a closer look. I’ll be going through those charts after today’s close and working on new Deep Dives to publish over the weekend.
Those will break down what has caught my attention, the technical conditions I’m watching, the important levels, and what would need to happen before I would consider putting capital to work.
For now, the process stays the same.
Wait for the setup. Wait for the price. Manage what needs managing. Then make the trade. That’s the system. -EC
