Preparatory meeting for the Monitoring of NDP IV Core Projects under Sustainable Extractives Development (Minerals and Petroleum)

The Minister in charge of Economic Monitoring has called for continued collective collaboration among stakeholders in the minerals and petroleum sector in order to accelerate Uganda's Tenfold growth strategy.

Hon. Alum made the remarks while officiating at the Preparatory meeting for the monitoring of  NDP IV core projects under Sustainable Extractives development (Minerals and Petroleum) held earlier today at the Office of the President.

She said Uganda's extractives industry has entered a critical phase, and therefore the need to harmonize  the monitoring approach, clarify institutional responsibilities, agree on the evidence required, and prepare for an effective field verification exercise.

 The core projects to be the subject of this monitoring exercise include

 1. The Midstream Petroleum Infrastructure Development Project Phase II;

2. National Oil Spill Response and Monitoring Infrastructure Project

3. Hoima Refinery; East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP);

4. Mineral Regulation Infrastructure Project; Moroto–Nadunget Limestone (Cement and Clinker) Plant; and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Supply and Infrastructure Intervention.

She notes that these are not ordinary projects and therefore represent major Government commitments intended to unlock Uganda's natural resource potential and establish stronger linkages between the extractives sector and the wider economy.
