Chicago pop‑punk band Spitalfield are back on the reunion thing and are said to maybe be working on a new full‑length album, which would be their first in 20 years. They did put out an EP last year. The band will be at Reverb Lounge on Friday with Danny Stevens of The Audition. They will be joined by Names Without Numbers and Arcade Riot from right here in our area.
Casey Chesnutt returns to Bucks Bar and Grill on Saturday. I went and saw him out this past Spring, and it was a lot of fun. He has a lot of good songs like “Ghost” and everything off of his “Down Mexico Way” EP. He will play some other Texas country favorites as well. Need country music this weekend and do not want to deal with Memorial Stadium? This is for you.
Mukilteo, Washington post hardcore band Fall of Troy will be at Bourbon Theater on August 21st. It has been quite a while since they released a new album, so one would think they will be testing out some new stuff to go along with your favorites. They will be joined by Lobby Boxer who also has not put out new music in awhile.
Jason Carter is known for playing with bluegrass legend Del McCoury and also the Travelin’ McCourys. He has been named Fiddle Player of the Year on six different occasions by the International Bluegrass Music Association, and has played with pretty much everyone in modern bluegrass, it seems. His latest album is Carter & Cleveland with Michael Cleveland. He will be at The Zoo Bar on Friday evening.
Four (and more to be announced) of the biggest country outliers are coming together for the Boys from Oklahoma tour. It’s very rare to get a concert at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, but you’ll get one on Saturday with Cross Canadian Ragweed, Turnpike Troubadours, Cody Jinks, and Flatland Cavalry.
Chuck Ragan is in the punk band Hot Water Music, but for many years now has been doing the folk punk thing and has released a handful of albums under his own name including 2024’s Love & Lore. You can see him live at Slowdown on Sunday. Our own Gerald Lee Jr. will open this show.
Grammy Award‑winning Mexican pop duo Jesse & Joy are coming to the Orpheum on Saturday. The sibling act have five full‑length albums out and recently appeared on the song “Human” from Robbie Williams.
Josh Tatofi will bring the songs of modern Honolulu music that includes a bit of R&B, soul, island reggae, and more, but do not worry, there is still a lot of traditional influences also. See Josh on Saturday at Slowdown. This show got moved from the front room to the main stage.
Other shows on Friday include Jeni Grouws at Jewell on Capitol. Petshop has Frost Found Us from Fargo. Ronda Civic, Pagan Athletes and Cope Acidic welcome TFBundy from Wichita to Slowdown. The El Desmadre dance party is happening at Waiting Room, and down the street at The Sydney is the Eddie Deets album release show. Many hip‑hop acts from around the region will be at Beach House.
Other happenings on Saturday include the return of 90’s post punk band Sideshow at O’Leavers. This is a benefit for BFF and will also feature Tender Buttons, Her Flyway Manner and The Obscurants. Lazy-I covers this show HERE and why Sideshow playing a show in Omaha in 2026 is a big deal. Kansas City favorites Red Kate return to Omaha for a show at Coven. The Church Arthouse has a large lineup of area bands (see the Saturday schedule below) raising funds for the venue. Popular area rock band Gallivant is at Funplex on Saturday and a ton of area acts including Satchel Grande will be at Dundee Day (see the Saturday schedule below).
