Last March, President Trump signed an executive order directing the U.S. Postal Service to mail ballots only to addressees on a national list of eligible voters. USPS has yet to respond to federal rulings blocking the order.
Our state’s elected leaders aren’t waiting to hear from USPS. Instead, they’re keeping up the pressure. Attorney General Nick Brown co-led a multistate coalition of 24 attorneys general in filing a formal comment letter July 2 opposing this attempt to seize control of elections and restrict mail-in voting.
Meanwhile, Secretary of State Steve Hobbs commented in detail on the “illegal, impractical and unwarranted” executive order and promised to fight attempts to implement it.

Washington’s state tax system is one of the most regressive in the US: millionaires pay an average of 4.1% in state and local taxes – a little over half the national average – while the lowest 20% of earners pay over 13%. The legislature passed the Millionaires Tax last spring to address this, and predictably multi-millionaire Brian Heywood has bankrolled an initiative to repeal it.
State Representative Lisa Parshley will field questions about the Millionaires Tax. Recognizing that false information about the tax has been spread and, having worked hard to get the tax passed, Representative Parshley appreciates this opportunity to explain how the Millionaires tax will benefit you.

AI data centers bring noise, light, air, and water pollution, and can increase energy costs by astronomical amounts. It’s why 63 percent of Americans oppose artificial intelligence data centers being built in their communities, according to a July 2026 Emerson College poll.
But destructive data centers could soon be popping up on federal lands and military bases across the country if the Pentagon gets its way. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is demanding billions of dollars for data centers that will supercharge AI-powered warfare and help fuel software used to make life-or-death decisions.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s No AI Data Centers on Federal Lands Act would ban large data centers and associated infrastructure on land owned or managed by the U.S. government, including on military bases.
