How do you stay obedient when nothing is working?

You did what you felt God asked you to do…
And now? It feels like you’re standing in the exact same place, with no visible reason to keep going.

It’s a quiet, brutal kind of exhaustion.
The kind that comes from doing everything right… and still having nothing to show for it.

You took the leap.
You followed the promptings.
You stayed consistent.
You kept your integrity intact.
You built with diligence.
You prayed with sincerity.

You did all of it, fully expecting that obedience would unlock a smooth, predictable path of visible progress.

But instead, it feels like you’ve walked straight into a wall.

And in that space, the internal noise gets louder.

The enemy whispers:
“If this was really God… why is it failing?”

And slowly, frustration pushes you toward a breaking point.

You start feeling the pull to abandon the vision.
To drop the assignment.
To reach for human wisdom, just to force a result.

Because if God’s way doesn’t seem to be working, why not try what seems to be working for everyone else?

When God calls you to an assignment, a community, or even a quiet season of faithful service, He rarely measures success by the speed of the outcome.

Think of Noah building an ark on dry land for decades.
Abraham walking toward a promise he couldn’t see.
Paul writing letters from a prison cell.

From a human perspective, none of it looked like it was “working.”

But in the hands of the Master Builder, those unseen, unrewarded seasons of consistency were holding something far bigger together.

So when nothing seems to be working, remind yourself,

Your responsibility is faithfulness.
God’s responsibility is the outcome.

You were called to obey the step, not to engineer the harvest.

Because the moment you force a door open in your own strength, you also take on the burden of sustaining it in your own strength.

So if the room feels quiet right now, stay steady in the quiet.

If the growth is happening beneath the surface, let the roots do their work.

You cannot afford to fix your eyes ten miles ahead, trying to map out a twenty-year plan.
That will only drain the strength you have left for today.

And if you’re tired, discouraged, tempted to walk away from what you were told to build, don’t.

That seed you planted in obedience is still growing.

Even now. So don't give up.

With love,
