You Were Sent

It matters who builds a thing. The building is as strong as the materials and as functional as the design.

The designer matters — and it must be God.

John wrote Revelation from an island after he was exiled. The entire book of Revelation focuses on the future, and he wrote it alone, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

You have more tools, resources, AI assistants, platforms, and money than John does, yet the book of Revelation is canonized and will outlive all of us.

In that book, he wrote something profound: you are kings and priests.

You are. You don’t have to become it, you simply are.

Peter says it like this: "You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation”.

You are.

Your identity will always bleed into what you’re building. It has to.

Imagine being made by the hand of God, in His image, with none of His attributes, His character, or His feats.

I will say it until I’m blue in the face:

Who you become matters more than what you do.

Two Offices. One Person.

I’ve taught and spoken a lot about the intersection of faith and future in the last year.

In one of my sermons, I taught that God uses kings to deliver people and priests to preserve them.

Now with the help of the Holy Spirit, two become one.

A king functions outside. In the market, culture, and systems. A king has great influence and authority to build, create and solve problems at scale.

A priest moves in sacred places. Almost monastic in their ability to cultivate internal change. Focusing on presence, the word, and the hearts of people. They pray for you, teach you, and minister the covenant.

We have a few examples in scripture of those who didn’t choose between the two.

Now? We ALL must be that example.

Don’t tell me you raised a seed round, but abandoned the work of planting seeds in the souls of men.

Moses is a clear example of being both.

He spent 40 years in the house of Pharaoh, learning one of the most advanced and complex civilization systems at the time. Then the next 40 with a modest priest

Moses spent his first forty years in the house of Pharaoh. Learning the systems of the most powerful kingdom on earth. His next forty years were spent with Jethro, learning the priesthood and the sacramental life. Herding sheep.

For what he would build in the wilderness, he needed both. God was very intentional.

All of your past is useful to God.

He won’t let any of your experience go to waste.

Both of these worldviews qualified Moses to deliver a people and preserve them.

The Word That Changes Everything

You can’t send yourself.

There’s an external authority involved. You don’t come up with the instruction, and you don’t choose the destination. You’re simply sent.

The sender grants you authority to accomplish the task.

You won’t be sent to do something the sender doesn’t believe you can accomplish.

Please read that again.

The moment you’re told, “Go”, everything you need is in those two letters.

Your confidence, your competence, your convictions — all are in those two letters.

Not because of the word, but because of the One who speaks them.

There’s no performance involved, there’s no competition.

They can copy your idea, but they can’t copy your obedience.

You’re simply doing what you’re told.

Doing the bidding of the One who sent you.

I played D1 football. I launched a startup. I taught myself to code. I traded options professionally. For years, none of it felt like ministry.

Then something changed. I got clarity on how God made me. On what he actually sent me to do. And once you see it, you stop asking whether your faith belongs in your work. You start asking what took you so long to bring it in.

That is the foundation on which this series is built.
