James Harden has just become the 4th Player in NBA history to enter the $500 million club, as in NBA Players who earned half a billion or more in Player Contracts alone. The other players to enter this club are LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Steph Curry. All 4 players are MVPs, but Harden is the only one so far without a Ring or Finals MVP.

Another interesting Aspect to this, is how he entered the 500 million club, he did it with his most recent signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Harden just landed a three-year, $97 million fully guaranteed contract to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The deal includes a third-year player option and a 15% trade kicker.

James Harden turns 37 this upcoming Wednesday on August 26th, so the Cavs are ready to give about $100 million to a 37-40 year old harden. And have become Harden’s 2nd highest earning team just behind the Rockets in 1st place with 173 million.

The Cavs were hoping to Land LeBron James this Summer, but instead kept a different James, they also recently traded for Peyton Watson who just came off of a 14 PPG Season, and he is a young, 6’8” athletic up and coming SF.

He’s no LeBron James, but is an upgrade for Cleveland.

A lot of teams in the East are playing with a chip on their shoulder this season with much to prove and silence doubts. Let’s see if the Cavs made a good choice with Harden or if they should have pushed harder for LeBron by trading one of their starters.
