Congratulations on your bestseller, Daily Creative, In a few words, what inspired you to write this book?
We wanted to help people reconnect with their creativity by making it a simple daily practice—one that supports mental flexibility, curiosity, and well-being.

How do you think travel inspires creativity?
Travel interrupts your brain’s tendency to coast on autopilot. It forces you to notice—new colors, sounds, rhythms, even how people move through space. That kind of heightened attention is the foundation of creativity. When you’re out of your routine, your brain naturally becomes more open and flexible, which is exactly where new ideas come from.

What/Where was your most profound travel experience?
Living in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico after my accident. I had gone through this life-altering experience and was rebuilding physically and emotionally, and learning metalsmithing there became a way to reconnect with myself. It wasn’t just about travel—it was about discovering creativity as a tool for processing and moving forward.

What is your next bucket list travel destination?
Exploring more of Japan-especially Kyoto and the art islands. I’m fascinated by the attention to detail, the rituals, the craftsmanship, and the way beauty and ritual are integrated into everyday life. It feels very aligned with the idea of creativity as a practice.

Do you have any travel hacks?
Always take a carry on :) And also, I try to build in small moments of unstructured time—walking without a plan, sitting in a café, just noticing. That’s usually when the most interesting things happen. I also always carry something to write or draw with. It keeps me engaged with where I am instead of just documenting it.

What is your packing strategy? Always a carry on, or pack with room to spare in your suitcase for found goodies?
Slip dresses, versatile layers like a navy cardigan, flats and sandals, and only one pair of sneakers that looks good but I can also work out in- I like my Nike air maxes. Also silk PJs that double as a ‘set’ for going out.

What do you always have in your suitcase, no matter where you are going?

I take a small journal and our Daily Creative book with my favorite tombow markers. I start every morning with a few five minute creativity exercises and I find that it is especially great when traveling because it helps cultivate a more curious and open mindset. Also: small roll-on scent from Warm (sometimes hotel rooms have weird
smells!), sneakers, AirPods.

What is your go to podcast?
Next Big Idea Club by Rufus Griscom, Smartless, and Kelly Corrigan Wonders

Where in the world do you feel most connected to creativity?
When I am in a place i have never been before-the novelty puts me in a state of heightened wonder and curiousity! Second place would be my studio in Sausalito.
