Olde South Ball · Southern Victorian Events Updates

The Victorian era (basically mid-late 1800s) saw a huge explosion in jewelry for everyone. The industrial revolution, mass production, and a rising middle class meant that jewelry became much cheaper and more affordable for everyone to wear - not just the nobility. These beautiful brooches are from that time period.

Victorians were fond of themes from nature, and often the birds and florals used had meaning behind them. Love, friendship, romance, mourning and beauty can all be represented by Victorian jewelry.

The bird and flowers on the painted brooch in this collection can represent love and romance. The Tudor roses on the gold brooch can represent unity and devotion. And the moss agate is a style that was highly popularized by Queen Victoria herself. Be sure to check out the auction at the ball and bid on these lovelies for yourself!

Many more items are coming soon so stay tuned!
