Someone on here had a LONG list of so-called deficits only Republicans are responsible for. Can’t find it so I’m putting it here. One was that Republicans have run Soc Sec into major deficit.
In 1968 Lynn Johnson was the first president to integrate SS into a unified federal budget framework to help finance operations like the Vietnam War. Other pres’s dipped at times as well, but the ; prior to that SS was a stand-alone & unable to be touched. Treasury was always to repay the SS when that was done: Democrat.
In 1998 Bill Clinton TOOK $BILLIONS of Soc Sec to help balance 4 yrs of the Budget to make it look like he was the 1st Pres since Andrew Jackson to balance the budget. Along with his “I did not have sex with that woman” lie, he lied abt how he “balanced” the budget: Democrat.
In 2010, after having been President for Only ONE YR, under Obama, our SS was put into a Running Sustained, long-term cash DEFICIT where annual benefit began exceeding total payroll tax revenues. It remained that way until 2020: Democrat
In 2019-2020, President Trump’s SS ran a financial SURPLUS: Republican
In 2022, Biden put us so deep in debt that SS went on the chipping block; Democrat.
Btwn those yrs both Dems & Repubs dipped into it & made it worsen. We will have to see what happens in the next 2+ yrs.
My point is this, & I’m sure that based on what I’ve read on here I’ll be downvoted, but I’m ok with that. I’m putting actual Researched Facts on here, not to support one or the other. The point should be to look things up & Verify what you’re saying instead of just throwing things out bc we read it on SM. Be informed, there’s never been a better time in our history where we Can Be: the worldwide web, This is OUR COUNTRY we are living in, & both parties have added both good AND bad, we can’t blame Republicans for the entire mess we’re in. Obama put us in massive debt & other presidents have spent Trillions as well.
Trump is using tariffs, for ex, to give us more $ to help better the debt, not give his “cronies” the money; that’s ridiculous, that’s not how it works. It goes into the Gen”l Fund where CONGRESS decides how it is spent.
We pay other countries 30+% to sell our goods to them but they only pay us 10%?? By raising theirs he is pushing them to agree to lower ours & both countries then pay the same , and it’s working!!! Some countries are screaming bc they’ve gotten away with it for Decades, & of course they don’t want to have to pay their fair share. If nothing else, Pres Trump is an incredible business man, & whether some want to believe it or not, he loves this country (yes, I hear the balking and eye rolling): why else would he keep putting himself in harms way, he’s got plenty of $$ to retire on? Give jt a minute. Oh, & watch Oprah’s interview with Donald Years ago where she asked him if would ever run for President, & that’s when he was a Democrat; it’s really interesting.
