This is our last chapter, y’all (plus epilogue). I’m a little sad, but a lot glad. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading along as I wrote Crossed, CURSED, & Nearly Dead. And, I pray you’ve done me a solid and preordered your copy of the ebook. It’s at $.99 for a limited time during launch. If not, please go do that now! Also, ARC copies are still available via the link below.
It is done. In two days, the ebook (and paperback) will be released at Amazon. If you have preordered, you will receive your invoice and copy that day. If you have NOT preordered, WHY THE HELL NOT?? I need all the support you can offer - restacking launch posts, yes. But please spring for the $.99 ebook, too.
My marketing efforts seem to scatter in the wind. Despite many posts, numerous pleas, and resorting to begging, we still only have 11 preorders. CAN YOU HELP WITH THAT NUMBER??
The A/C is fixed. Well, kinda. I realized early this morning that the unit was running nonstop, even after reaching the thermostat temperature and the inside fan/cooling kicked off. WTEF???? I called maintenance and flipped the breaker switch. But I assume the damn thing’s been running noneffingstop since Monday. Dear God in heaven or wherever you are these days…REALLY???
I finally got a chiropractic adjustment yesterday (Wednesday) and feel better physically. But I also stopped by Trader Joes and ate way too many sugary lemon wafer thingies before bed and was up every hour or so peeing. Now this morning, all I want to do is hide from the world - either climb back in bed and stay there all day or hide in the living room watching TV. Alas, neither of those things are likely to happen. I have marketing to do, a flyer to create, then a trip to 307 Made in downtown Cheyenne to make sure my book display is ready for their Fifth Anniversary Celebration this weekend.
THEN, I’ll hide.
🎶Now, on with the show, this is it.🎵
It was a perfect afternoon for a barbecue. With the arrival of June, Atlanta was enjoying a respite from the storms and oppressive humidity. A frisky breeze ruffled Elise’s hair and kept the pesky mosquitoes and flies at bay. The citronella torches flickering on the perimeter of Captain Bogey’s backyard deterred the rest.
The ramshackle mansion on the edge of Decatur’s Clairmont Heights had come to Bogey by way of a great-aunt. He was reconstructing it one section at a time, integrating technology to make his own version of S.A.R.A.H., the Self-Actuated Residential Automated Habitat in the rebooted sci-fi series Eureka. Only Bogey had named his near-sentient house Yayi after his maternal grandmother, a detail Elise found endearing.
