Hi friends!
I am wildly excited about this:
Decoder Club is getting a *major* overhaul.
For one thing, it’s going analogue. Members will now get an actual, physical piece of snail mail every month.
And and and! Hidden within each monthly puzzle will also be a fragment of the Calendar Cipher, a larger mystery revealed piece by piece throughout the year. When all fragments are assembled, the cipher reveals a final password that unlocks prizes large and small.
(Read more about it below!)
The other news: In the process of relaunching the Decoder Club, we’ve also made some pretty big changes to how the Treasure and Postcard Clubs function. All of our clubs will now be hosted through one place! The best news about this is that we now offer a discounted bundle. Join the Treasure Club and the Decoder Club and save!
If you’re already a member of any of the Clubs, you’ll receive an email about how to make the transition. If you haven’t gotten it by the end of the week, please reach out and we’ll coordinate. You don’t want to miss that email.
If you aren’t yet a member, but have been waiting for new slots to open up, now’s your moment! Treasure Club always has a limited number of spots, so if you’ve been thinking about joining, it’s best to sign up sooner rather than later.
As always, thank you for supporting this strange little museum and the tiny, curious things that pass through it.
Early last year, I launched a little idea called the Decoder Club. Each month, I sent out a coded message via email. Sometimes it was a lovely poem, sometimes a digital adventure, sometimes a giveaway for a tiny treasure. It’s been fun and delightful and now, after a year of learning what works (and what doesn’t), I’m moving the Decoder Club into its next form, and I couldn’t be more excited.
Here’s what’s changing:
Beginning next month, the Decoder Club will become a physical, mail-based club. (Because, well, because I’m me, and this is a museum of tactility after all!)
Instead of receiving a coded message by email, members will receive — in their actual mailbox — a beautifully designed postcard (if I may say so myself).
On that postcard you’ll find a coded message to decipher (still ranging from lovely to mysterious, educational to surprising).
Each month’s puzzle will *also* include one fragment of The Calendar Cipher.
Collect all twelve fragments from the year, complete The Calendar Cipher, and you’ll be entered into the Year-End Prize. All who complete it will receive a tiny treasure. (And other prizes…)
Because the club now includes printing and postage, the price will increase from $8/month to $10/month, with a discounted yearly option. (If you’re already a member, you’ll be grandfathered in at the previous price. Just check your email for instructions!)
If you join mid-year, you’ll have the option to purchase previous months’ postcards at the same per-month rate as the yearly membership, so you can still complete the full sequence.
The Decoder Club will now be hosted through Subbly, which will make subscriptions, billing, and yearly options much cleaner and easier on your end. (Especially if you are a member of more than one Club. Did I mention the bundle discounts!?!?)
I’ve loved watching this small club grow over the past year. But it just feels right to make it more tactile, more collectible, and most certainly, more suited to the Office of Collecting & Design.
If you’d like to join the Decoder Club (or any of our other clubs), you can do so here.
This transition to the new Clubs model has taken nearly 6 months of dedicated work. All I can say is that I really hope it’s seamless. But if there are a few bumps in the road ahead, I so appreciate your patience.
I’ve also been working hard behind the scenes to get the upcoming tour sorted. We are finalizing our Fall Tour dates as this email is getting sent, so stay tuned for our upcoming cities. So excited to get back on the road!
Sending warm wishes,
Jessica
