Hi, I'm S! This is my attempt to get blogging again. I'm also looking to use it to record a track of some of my goals as some form of motivation. Posts {...

Media Overload

I've been overloading my brain with media recently. Yes news media, but also a volley of gaming, YouTube (long form and shorts), reading, audiobooks, music, internet forums - whatever I can get my hands (and eyes) on. I constantly flit from one to the other, like I can't cope if one of them isn't on the go at any moment. It's not healthy. In a funny way I believe it's some form of unconscious…

Tent Adventures

I love camping in my tent though I'm not getting out there so much recently. Here's a few of my fave spots that I've camped. /* Photo gallery */ .bearming-gallery { margin: 1.8rem 0; } .bearming-gallery, .bearming-gallery * { cursor: pointer !important; } .bearming-gallery > ul, .bearming-gallery > ol { display: grid; grid-template-columns: repeat(auto-fit, minmax(180px, 1fr)); gap: 0.55rem;…

Stealing Time From Tomorrow

I'm writing this whilst I should probably be going to sleep... I have an issue with sleep at the moment, and that's that I'm not getting enough of it. I often stay up late either on my phone in bed or doing a load of not a lot elsewhere in the house. Every time I do this, I steal time from tomorrow . That "not a lot" I do could otherwise be called procrastination . My theory is that I get to the…

A New New Year

I'm moving my New Year to the beginning of March. I had a tough beginning to last year and then an incredibly busy but fun rest of the year. I got caught up in so much fun stuff that I didn't rest much. Then Winter comes around and kicks itself off with December complete with all it's Christmas time busyness. Next thing you know it's January, the NEW YEAR , and everyone gets on with their…

Baked Oats

There's a baked oats recipe I find myself going back to often but it's embedded in a YouTube short by @fitfoodieselma . I'm copying it here so it's easier for me to find next time I fancy it! I don't usually deal with cups but it actually makes it quite easy with my measuring spoon set for this recipe. Mix together the following: 1/2 ripe banana, mushed up 1/2 cup oats 1/2 cup Greek yogurt 2…

Easy Lentil and Sausage Stew

The other day a 4 minute YouTube video of Jacques Pepin cooking a stew came up on my feed. I'd never heard of or watched Jacques but the length of the video caught my eye - not a short , but a short enough video to see if it's a recipe I fancied. And it was! (I mean you can't beat a stew in winter, right?) I very much eyeballed my quantities and mixed it up slightly, but roughly below: 6-8…

Not Going

I played netball tonight, we often go to the pub after the game. This week I didn't fancy it - so I didn't go! This may seem like the obvious choice but it wasn't easy for me to actually say no. I know going to the pub is fun and I'll have a great time; the people are lovely and we always have a blast. There's definitely a sense of FOMO if I don't go but honesty I just enjoy it, so why not just…

Lampshades

I moved into my house about 15 months ago now. Five of my main lights still do not have lampshades. I'm not sure why I find it difficult to choose lampshades. Anything would be better than bare bulbs!

How I Perceive Me vs. How You Perceive Me

19/01/2026: This post is from an old blog that I'm bringing along for archive purposes. The "new friend" is no longer a friend: as I started to perceive more of his real self I realised that I didn't like what I saw. Neither did a number of others. I was talking to a new friend recently who mentioned in passing that people often perceive themselves differently to how others perceive them. I…

The Balance of Freedom

19/01/2026: This post is from an old blog that I'm bringing along for archive purposes. I still significantly value my freedom but I have a much healthier relationship with it after 3 years of counselling. Freedom is something I value significantly. Some years ago I was sat in a cafe in a central Veronan square working my way through the activities of a self-help book. I can’t recall which book it…
