After a while, it got silent again. This time I did not feel the discomfort formerly there. It was just… pleasant. It was nice having someone like Dan to spend such an evening with.
“I’ve been meaning to ask you…”, he started, “Given that we haven’t really talked in a while… do you by chance have someone new in your life?”
He still doesn’t know I’m gay. For all I know, he could very well be homophobic. We haven’t really talked about that topic, but it seems that he’s indifferent to LGBT people. Even if I said that I was seeing some random girl, I was not. There’s no reason for me to lie about him for two things.
“Not really. College hasn’t let me have any free time for dating. And you?”, I knew that my chances with him were slim, and yet the thought of him being close with another person stung my heart.
“Dating as in real-girlfriend dates? Nope. Same problem here. Hooking up on the other hand is different.”, this lifted a bit of weight off my shoulders. While I still don’t like the thought of him being with other people, at least it wasn’t permanent. “You know the girl with the red hair?”
“The one I saw leaving our room the other day?”
“Yeah. She definitely knows how to fuck.”, I wish you could say the same about me one day. “You know, she didn’t even hesitate. It was her that asked me to go to our place. When we went there, she didn’t even wait a second. She pulled down my…”
