If I had to come up with a name for this summer, it might be “The Summer of Extremes” with the high surf advisories and smashy waves at the beach + the “extreme heat warnings” even this weekend for temps in the 90s during the day and only getting down to 70s overnight in inland OC. August and September are typically our warmest months, but it’s felt pretty steamy here already.
Let’s go ahead and add another extreme to this coming week! Extreme kindness. If you are always nice, then be a little nicer. If you’ve been hard on yourself, speak kind words to yourself. My writer brain notices a lot — and I’ve been noticing struggles turning to smiles this week with just a sincere please, thank you, or kind gesture.

As a friendly reminder, make sure you ALWAYS check official sources when you are heading out to any of the locations I share. These are merely suggestions. Only you know what works for your family. Plus, your experience may not be the same as mine — and there can be changes to the hours or unforeseen circumstances or conditions at the suggested locations.
This is Week 10 of the Summer Play Trips newsletter and there are tons of play trips built into these lists. Some that I covered earlier in the summer and some that I didn’t yet. All of my best summer fun lists crammed into one big list!
I shared this last week and it’s not cooling down much! Remember this list is always here and if you have something you think I should add, then send your recommendation my way.
I have a huge post about the 39+ Farmers Markets in OC paired up with nearby parks. Just letting you know that the Placentia Farmers Market moved across Bradford from the Town Center and into the Ralphs Shopping Center.
They will be temporarily closing their doors from Monday, August 17th to Monday, September 28th for their annual renovations. Grand re-opening is going to be Tuesday, September 29th. So squeeze in your play sessions now!
