I have always found it interesting how easily we can describe the people we admire.
We know exactly what makes someone memorable.
It is not always that they are the smartest person in the room.
It is not always that they are the most successful.
It is not even that they have the most interesting stories.
Sometimes, it is just the way they make you feel.
You remember the person who makes you laugh when you did not expect to.
The person who asks questions because they genuinely want to know the answer.
The person who gets excited talking about something they love.
The person who makes a normal conversation feel like it was worth having.
And then I started wondering:
Am I becoming someone I would want to meet?
Not someone who looks impressive from the outside.
Not someone who has everything figured out.
But someone whose presence I would actually enjoy.
Because the truth is, we spend so much time trying to become someone others will notice that we forget to become someone we would personally choose to spend time with.
I think the most interesting people are not necessarily the people who have experienced the most.
They are the people who notice the most.
They notice the way a stranger smiles at their dog on the sidewalk.
They notice when a friend says “I’m fine!” but their voice sounds slightly different.
They notice when the sky looks unusually beautiful during an ordinary commute.
They collect tiny moments.
And maybe that is what gives them depth.
Because a person who pays attention to life usually has more to say about it.
The world is constantly giving us little stories, but most of us are too busy waiting for the big moments to arrive.
The promotion.
The vacation.
The relationship.
The achievement.
Meanwhile, life is quietly happening in the background.
Becoming someone interesting starts with becoming someone who pays attention.
There is something beautiful about meeting someone who genuinely loves something.
Not because it makes them look impressive.
Not because it helps them build a personal brand.
Simply because they care.
Someone who spends hours learning about something nobody else understands.
Someone who gets excited explaining a movie they loved.
Someone who explores a new neighborhood just because they are curious.
Someone who has a hobby they are terrible at but continues anyway.
Passion does not always look dramatic.
Sometimes it looks like someone quietly building a relationship with something that makes them happy.
I think we underestimate how attractive it is when someone is connected to their own life.
There is a version of yourself you introduce to the world.
And then there is the version of yourself who knows every promise you have broken.
The workout routine you said you would start.
The book you said you would read.
The idea you said you would pursue.
The conversation you said you would have.
We often think confidence comes from achievements.
But I think a lot of confidence comes from something much simpler:
Trusting yourself.
Knowing that when you say you will do something, you actually will.
You become someone you admire by showing yourself, over and over again, that you are someone worth relying on.
Some people have a way of making life feel lighter.
They send the random message that makes your day.
They remember the small detail you mentioned weeks ago.
They celebrate your wins, even the small ones.
They make a regular Tuesday feel slightly more special.
And I think that is a form of main character energy that we do not talk about enough.
It is not about being the center of attention.
It is about bringing attention to the moments and people around you.
It is about leaving situations slightly better than you found them.
One of the easiest traps to fall into is believing that you will finally become the person you want to be after some future transformation.
After you lose weight.
After you get the dream job.
After you move somewhere new.
After you become more confident.
But becoming someone you would want to meet is not a destination.
It is built in small choices.
It is choosing kindness when you could choose frustration.
It is staying curious when you could stay comfortable.
It is trying something new when you could stay afraid.
It is allowing yourself to be a work in progress.
Because the people we love being around are rarely the people who have everything figured out.
They are the people who are still growing, still learning, and still excited about becoming.
Maybe main character energy was never about making everyone else notice you.
Maybe it is about creating a life where you notice yourself.
Where you become someone you enjoy waking up as.
Someone you would be curious to know.
Someone you would choose to sit next to at a coffee shop.
Someone you would want to meet.
