Everybody is a Prophet

Everybody wants to know what happens next.

Who wins the World Cup. Whether AI agents will eventually start paying each other. If Bitcoin’s dip is a buying opportunity or the start of another painful chapter.

Predictions are everywhere this week, and the funny thing about predictions is that they’re all convincing before the result arrives.

All we can say for now is, may the best prophet win.

Let’s get into it.

(How we’re reading the market this week)

Prediction markets have spent the last two years sitting in crypto’s “interesting but niche” category. Everybody agrees they’re cool. Everybody agrees they have potential. Yet outside election cycles and a handful of major news events, they’ve largely remained a product for a very specific kind of internet user.

The World Cup could change that.

Crypto Analysts estimates that this tournament could generate between $3 billion and $10 billion in sports betting and prediction market volume. On paper, that sounds like another big number in an industry full of big numbers. In reality, it may be one of the most important adoption tests prediction markets have ever faced.

The reason being that football is universal. You don’t need to understand crypto, macroeconomics, tokenomics, or market structure to have an opinion on who wins a football match. Everyone already participates in prediction markets informally. Every football conversation is essentially a prediction market without money attached.

For years, crypto has struggled to find products that feel intuitive to non-crypto users. Prediction markets may be one of the few exceptions. You don’t need to explain why someone should care about a World Cup outcome. They already do.

The question now is whether those users remain active once the tournament ends.

AI agents making payments has become one of those topics that everyone seems excited about, but very few people can explain without using a slide deck.

This week, Mastercard announced Agent Pay for Machines, a platform that allows AI agents to transact autonomously using cards, bank accounts and stablecoins. The announcement came with a long list of partners including Coinbase, Ripple, Polygon, Stripe and Cloudflare, which is usually how you know a narrative has reached peak conference season.

To be fair, the idea itself isn’t ridiculous.

If AI agents eventually handle tasks on behalf of humans, they’ll need a way to pay for services. Traditional banking systems weren’t built with autonomous software in mind, and crypto offers programmable payments that can move instantly between participants.

The logic is sound, but the problem is that most of the conversation is still happening several years ahead of reality.

Right now, AI agents are largely being discussed through future possibilities rather than present behaviours. Every company is describing what agents might eventually do. Very few are showing meaningful transaction volumes from what agents are already doing.

So, until agent-driven payments become something more than demos, partnerships and projections, this remains noise.

Another day, another Bitcoin dip that somehow manages to be both the end of crypto and the buying opportunity of a lifetime at the exact same time.

BTC briefly slipped below $60k this week, touching levels not seen since October 2024 and wiping out 16% in the process.

The bears emerged from whatever cave they’ve been hiding in for the past year to explain why this is the start of a multi-year collapse. The bulls immediately countered with seventeen charts, four moving averages, and a reminder that “people wished they bought at these levels last cycle.”

Some people bought the dip and are already posting victory laps. Some people panic sold the bottom.

Anyway, see you all at $65k.

The market doesn’t care how hard you studied. It doesn’t care how many hours you spent analyzing. It doesn’t care that you “deserve” a winning trade. If your edge isn’t there, it will take your money anyway. The sooner you understand this the better. Good day Guys.

Loosing a lot of money after making it in crypto will rewire your brain …. Sometimes you are happy …. Most times you are just full of regrets 🙂

Remember that everybody has a prediction. The market’s only job is deciding whose turn it is to be humbled.

Have a great weekend.

Until next week,

I love a good prediction, especially when it’s a predict-and-win. It’s all a game of luck or, for those skilled at putting 1 +1 to make 11, a game of mathematics. Whichever side of the coin you fall on, from June, you get to roll the dice in our new segment -
