A paid July novella begins with an arrival into a naturist setting where summer ease and deeper emotional tension begin to meet.
Martin arrived with one bag, one paperback he did not expect to read, and a version of his own explanation so thin that even he stopped believing it before he reached the gate.
He had told Hugo by email that he needed a quiet week.
That much was true.
What he had not written was that the quiet he needed was not the restful kind. It was the kind a person seeks when too much of his life has recently been lived in rooms where he kept sounding reasonable long after reason had ceased to help.
