Tubi’s latest engagement metrics and revenue suggest the streamer is firing on all cylinders. Meanwhile, YouTube is further upping its game, with a UI overhaul and new creator minimums.

Tubi announced that it now has 100M+ monthly active users and earned $1B in revenue over the last year. Importantly, it says that audience growth over the last year was 14%, but engagement grew even faster, up by 17%. The performance data confirms the Tubi purchase has been a strong win for Fox, and that Anjali Sud’s leadership deserves much of the credit.

Some companies have missed out on the growth of the FAST market. Warner Bros. Discovery, for example, said it would launch a FAST service over three years ago but remains notably absent.

The FAST market is estimated at approximately $6B in the US, and is projected to reach $9–10B by the end of the decade. However, the estimates likely exclude YouTube revenue.

Fox is a controversial brand, and some may choose to avoid Roku devices if it ends up in Fox’s hands. Roku streaming media player users might consider Google TV-powered devices instead. The TV OS just added a large library of on-demand content to its FreePlay offer. However, Google has switched its focus away from Google TV.

YouTube is overhauling its creator program and, in the process, raising the bar for creators before they get paid for their efforts.

YouTube’s success is underpinned by the efficacy of its user experience. According to YouTube’s VP of UX, Jonathan Turlisky, the experience is getting the most significant design overhaul in its history.

Although a goal of the UX redesign is to unify experiences across screens, TV demands special consideration.

YouTube has made a special contribution to the connected TV world.
