if it’s one thing I observed from the masses today, a lot of them unknowingly place ceilings on their own potential.
this manifests in the form of doubt in their own capabilities.
maybe perfectionism in the fear of showing mistakes or “looking stupid” in front of everyone.
maybe even dealing with imposter syndrome, where even if they objectively prove their competence, they still think they’re not doing enough.
and its honestly sad to see.
because I’ve been there too, and let me just say, it can be very soul crushing to be in a state where you don’t think you’re capable of more.
people with bright futures ahead of them and all the resources available and yet their mind is convincing them otherwise on their potential.
but let me just say, this doesn’t have to be you.
you don’t have to fall into a state of learned helplessness after repeated setback after setback.
all you possibly need is a mindset shift and repeated evidence to feed your brain to solidify an identity of someone that is limitless in all domains of life.
the amazing part is, once you fully develop this mindset shift for the better, there is genuinely no turning back to your old ways of thinking.
old belief systems or frameworks are forever discarded.
knowing you’ve outgrown them.
you would be as if a caterpillar has undergone the process of chrysalis, before turning into a butterfly forever.
by the end of reading this you’re going to go through that same process, a significant metamorphosis in your own life will occur.
and you’ll be soaring past everyone else once you realize that your own potential is limitless.
exactly 9:18 PM as I write this, finished my warm tea, earbuds dialed in to C418 instrumentals once again. minecraft music never gets old.
was absolutely out and about today and feeling amazing from my earlier run. i know BDNF and endorphins are still in my bloodstream, helping me think with clarity.
and while I was thinking, why have only a select few cracked the code to quite literally brainwashing themselves to achieve anything? well, its actually never been so simple, you’re just a couple of mindset shifts away, which we’ll dive deep into here.
pay attention, maybe notes are definitely needed for this one.
and as always, do approach all of this with an open mind.
let’s get into it.
understand that the thoughts and statements we feed ourselves are absolutely crucial.
our own thinking is quite literally the most powerful mechanism we have.
thoughts create patterns, patterns create beliefs, beliefs creates identity, identity creates behavior, behavior creates habits, habits make up our future.
read that again.
when you think about it shortly, our thoughts make up our future, from idea, to action, to materializing into reality.
it gives our own mind so much power.
but at the same time, people let their own minds overpower them.
in psychology, this can manifest in the form of negativity bias, and scarcity thinking.
number one, we tend to focus on negative experiences more than positive ones. you would look at the glass half empty instead of half full.
number two, we tend to think about what we lack, and develop a mindset that things like money, opportunities, or love is limited.
all of this culminates in short-term thinking and cause a lot of resentment that builds up within, which caps your potential further.
you need to look at the cup half-full, in everything in life.
abundance thinking is the antidote.
instead of thinking about how limited you are, and what you lack, think about the unlimited opportunities that are at your disposal, and what you already have now.
when you truly think about it, we live in one of the most advantageous generations ever.
you have access to an array of knowledge from all domains, thanks to the internet.
you can:
read about history from over 2,000 years ago.
read primary source accounts from important figures in different eras.
read about new skills from the ground up.
we can pull up any open-access course from any university for absolutely free.
we can educate ourselves on topics and go down specific rabbit holes on any random Tuesday night.
you can build a seven figure business straight from your laptop, if you’re able to connect to wifi, considering inputs and outputs are nonlinear in this generation. a days worth of work can pay off for years thanks to leverage.
you can open up an online program and change the lives of many people looking to seek guidance from your judgment and thinking. you get paid for helping people out, everyone wins.
i mean I can just list an entire book of things you can do but this is the abundance thinking i’m talking about.
and i genuinely mean this, the opportunities for expanding your potential are endless. your potential is genuinely salivating at the amount of pathways you can take, and how much you can develop it over time.
this should give you a renewed sense of hope if you think like this.
explore all this uncharted territory as much as possible, because time is finite in your life.
don’t waste it on superficial things.
“it always seems impossible until it's done” - Nelson Mandela
what you need to understand is that your subconscious mind picks up on more than you think.
the words and thoughts you tell yourself rewire your identity, and that dictates your actions.
and theres certain words that need to be avoided like the plague. they’re thrown around everywhere by those who are insecure of people aspiring to be greater than they are.
each time they’re tossed around, you shrink your potential further and further.
some of you may fall victim to saying these, but these can end today.
the words “think realistic” are some of the most prominently spoken in this generation.
these two words can genuinely kill dreams and I’m not even exaggerating.
thinking realistic puts a cap on your potential because now you open the door to self-doubt unwillingly.
you lower your baseline and standards to the opinion of someone else and it’ll force you into scarcity thinking.
this is a no-no, and the antidote is delusional optimism.
you have to think highly of yourself and belief that you are greater than you are
another word that needs to get tossed out of your vocabulary is “impossible.”
some of you reading that word may have ticked you off. good.
bringing this into your thinking will genuinely cap your potential because now you believe that something you’re reaching for isn’t worth pursuing.
a path ahead of you won’t be worth your blood, sweat, and tears if you think it’s “impossible.”
look at the story of Roger Bannister, he was a middle-distance runner of the 1950s.
at the time, the four minute mile hasn’t been broken yet, everyone said it would be impossible from the mental barrier and medical warnings it had.
doctors genuinely thought that it wouldn’t be beaten because your heart would burst from the aerobic stress.
but Bannister did the unthinkable, he broke the record with a 3 minute 59.4 seconds time in 1954. he beat the expectations of the media and medical experts who thought it wouldn’t be done.
what was impossible was now possible. he was proof of someone exceeding the limit of human potential.
today?
the record has become the baseline for elite distance running.
over 2,300 individual athletes now have broken the four-minute mile barrier.
insane isn’t it?
don’t let the word impossible stop you from achieving something great.
here’s a truth I want you to keep in mind:
if someone else has done it, you can do it too. and if no one else has done it, you can be the first.
and last but not least, this is one of the most common potential capping words of all time: “give up.”
whether through someone else telling you this, or an internal voice that speaks to you, these are the two deadliest words to your potential.
this is not just a phrase to call it quits.
but a means to give up everything you worked for, leave all the progress you made in vain, and cut your growth prematurely.
the problem with giving up is instead of going down the path to find out what you will become, you’ll go down the path of what you could’ve became.
you end up wasting so much of your potential when you throw in the towel.
forever throw this out of your vocabulary.
and when these two words come across your mind, its a sign to keep pushing forward. its an indicator that you’re at a point where most submit to the idea of giving it all up.
don’t let that be you, deviate and push forward when it matters.
“our brains renew themselves throughout life to an extent previously thought possible.” - Michael S. Gazzaniga
we tend to forget that we have one of the most powerful super-weapons ever developed through our evolutionary roots: our brain.
through our complex brains, we reign supreme as apex predators over the Earth.
we’ve created anything and everything from our ideas.
i mean think about it for a second. we’ve built entire empires and cities from sticks and stones. we’ve also harnessed massive destructive capacity too.
ethics and morals aside, you can agree that we as humans have gone pretty far since the stone age, its something to be proud of!
and it all ties back to the same underlying neurological mechanism that helped with our evolution as a species.
the brain’s ability to conduct neuroplasticity.
the fact that this mechanism exists is genuinely a cheat code to a limitless potential.
let me explain why.
the mechanism itself in short, describes our nervous system, specifically our brain rewiring & reorganizing its neural pathways based off of some sensory experience given to it.
the brain actively adapts and learns from evidence we feed it and strengthens those same neural pathways if we continue to feed it that same evidence.
sooner or later, those neural pathways become automatic, second nature.
if you feed your brain the evidence of someone who is limitless, continually, you reinforce the identity of someone who is, and your actions follow suit.
sooner or later thats who you are.
but, let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. it can operate as a double edged sword, used against you.
if you feed your brain evidence of someone who is lazy, it will strengthen those same neural pathways to the point of becoming automatic.
it’ll just be who you are.
in short? you have the capacity to either rewire your entire being to someone who achieves greatness, or reinforce an identity that is already stagnant.
there is no in-between, neuroplasticity operates 24/7.
either you teach your brain and make it learn from your thoughts and behaviors to become a high performer, someone with no limit to your potential, or regress to mediocrity.
this is enough proof in of itself.
it can take time, but its not impossible to do so.
this should also renew your hope. and understand that certain parts of your personality can also be shifted through neuroplasticity.
personality isn’t fixed, its variable across time.
you can completely rewire yourself from someone who is stagnant into someone with high conscientiousness, dealing with self-discipline. low neuroticism, dealing with emotional stability and resilience. and moderate openness, dealing with curiosity.
this is totally doable, and I’m not joking when I say this.
you just need to feed your brain the right evidence to strengthen those neural pathways, and it being the super weapon it is, will do the rest of its magic.
anyone, yes, absolutely anyone can mold themselves into a winner, a high performer, someone who’s potential knows no bounds.
like I said, it takes time, but its not impossible.
we’ve mentioned quantity over quality in previous articles before, but we’re going to go a step further here, so do pay attention.
getting to the bread and butter, we live in a generation where quantity will take you farther than quality ever will.
and no, I don’t mean the kind of quantity where you’re blindly throwing up shots without any second thought.
i’m talking about the quantity that doesn’t hyper-obsess over every single minute detail.
the kind that doesn’t care about perfection like your life depends on it.
or the kind that overthinks every single outcome that hasn’t even played out yet.
in short? you’re all about experience. and especially in creative fields, experience provides feedback.
that same feedback is data that can help you grow, expose mistakes, and double down on what already works.
most don’t know this.
they think quality is what matters, and in some cases, it does.
but usually the one who puts up the most amount of reps, wins. they have enough experience to know the ins and outs of the game at hand, they’re individuals that have put up high volume. with each rep increasing their surface area each time.
and write this down for future reference, print it somewhere for you to see:
their surface area increases so much that it would be impossible to not win and not have reality bend to your favor.
we can visualize this neurologically too.
look at our human brains for example. you ever notice how many wrinkles we have in our little pink minds?
they serve a purpose.
they’re called sulcus, and gyrus. we’re not going to go into the technical details but they help maximize the surface area of the brain, specifically the cerebral cortex.
more surface area? you get more neurons.
processing efficiency is increased, so neurons can communicate with each other quicker.
we have higher cognitive power, we can reason as a result of higher level functioning from the high surface area we have.
this is why we’re a superior species in intelligence, survival, and cognition compared to other species. we just have a high surface area for thinking to prosper while other species have less developed brains, with less wrinkles.
connecting this to life, the higher surface area, the better.
you want to increase the amount of reps, of course not to an extreme degree, but just enough so you can fly past your competition.
trying to curate one perfect article won’t cut it for your creative potential.
drafting at least fifteen to twenty will teach you a lot more than relying on one article for feedback on what works.
one gym session won’t be enough surface area for expanding your physical potential.
you need to make it a lifestyle change enough to solidify the identity of someone that is healthy and disciplined.
attempting to program a single app isn’t enough surface area for expanding your intellectual potential.
you need to work on different apps and experiment with other coding languages to get the feedback necessary on what works and what the market wants.
you get the idea?
good. reread this section if you need to.
“the first million is hard, but the second million is inevitable.” - Brian Tracy
the beautiful part about the limitless individuals who are on the pursuit of mastery is the progress they make.
tangible progress especially.
let’s bring up the gym for example.
can you remember the first time you walked in there? getting a feel of how heavy the weights were when you did your first rep?
i sure remember my first experience.
it may have been a struggle for everyone, including you. its a genuine canon event to be humbled at times.
but if you’re someone that kept going consistently, eating right, hydrating, getting enough sleep and nutrients, you would find something fascinating.
the weights you struggled with back then end up becoming lighter and lighter.
you have a newfound sense of confidence because you know what you’re doing is working.
and if you’re exceptional, your personal record weights end up becoming your warm-up reps.
that 135 LB bench you struggled with all those years ago? you can rep that now.
thats the beauty of self-mastery combined with a high surface area.
that experience you developed over time is proof that your potential is limitless, because now you have concrete evidence of your growth.
and this not only applies to the gym, but to life in other domains. if you devote yourself to a path or skill you love dearly, over time through consistency, your personal records eventually become your new baseline.
your standards just keep increasing that your failures rise above the success of other.
keep this in mind moving forward:
a limited potential doesn’t grow, it stagnates and decays.a limitless potential is one that grows and adapts daily.
thats the difference I want to make clear here.
make sure to keep showing up that your records turn into baselines.
i am not exaggerating enough, this is one of the most important sections you can read in this article, so do digest every word here carefully.
going back to the neuroplasticity point, studies show that adult neuroplasticity never diminishes as you age.
the same mechanism of your nervous system rewiring and reorganizing its neural pathways works at any age.
it can occur in your adolescent years the same way it can occur in your elderly years.
therefore, the notion that our brains stop developing in our adult years has been a myth.
so what does this mean for all of us?
it’s never too late to become limitless.
some people rationalize that they’re too old to learn a new skill. that its too late to try that new sport. to educate themselves on a new language, etc.
but the truth is, no one is too old or too late to try anything, especially paths that give way to expanding your potential.
there’s a saying that ties in with this that goes:
“the best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is now.”
and it all makes sense.
i mean look at my dad. he’s in his 60s, trying out pickleball for the first time and watching extensive film on it.
dude looks like he’s in his late 30s right now with the way he’s moving and the energy he has.
he never talked himself out of trying the sport because “he was too old to do so.”
my dad willingly chose to learn it either way given how old he is.
most don’t have that mindset.
you need to be willingly to explore new things and try regardless of how old you are. screw the fact that you’re in your 50s, travel the world and explore because thats something we were mean’t to do evolutionarily.
who cares if you’re 70? build a project that means a lot to you and gives you a reason to wake up every morning.
you think it’s too late to find your purpose? you have decades of learning and experience ahead of you my friend.
eventually the answers will come your way, indirectly. the serendipity of life will set your heart ablaze and eventually the colors of your day become more vibrant, your routine becomes romanticized, and you start loving more.
point being: it’s never too late.
if its anything I would tell my elders or people younger than me, it would be this.
and I mean this with much urgency and passion into the words I’m writing for you so I’ll say it again:
it’s never too late.
“your life’s work is to reach your potential. plain and simple. anything that leads to decay is a distraction that must be wrestled with and eliminated.” - Dan Koe
rolling back on the self-doubt issue today, so many people subconsciously place ceilings on their own potential.
they’re as if they’re operating a car, capable of going 100+ miles per hour, but the belief systems they’re operating on caps them at 60+ miles per hour.
and to refresh your memory, we’ll go over what we discussed together so that you can remove these limitations and ceilings on your potential.
think in abundance. always look at the cup half full and what you have now. when you truly think about it, we live in one of the most advantageous generations ever, you can learn anything, at anytime, on demand.
remove “think realistic,” “impossible,” and “give up” out of your vocabulary.” these words are singlehandedly the most dangerous words spoken out of anyone. they place hard ceilings on your potential and capabilities, make them unfamiliar in your mind.
neuroplasticity is enough proof for a limitless potential. you can either rewire your brain to someone that is a limitless high performer, or continue to reinforce an identity of someone who is stagnant. its up to the evidence you feed your nervous system continuously.
the ones who increase their surface area the most, wins. quantity over quality is becoming more prominent. the ones who put up high volume get experience and feedback for growth that it’d be impossible for you to not win.
self-mastery turns your records into baselines. if you show up enough times with full attention and devotion to work you love, your standards will be so high that your failures will rise above the success of others.
it’s never too late. anyone at any age can become limitless. i cannot stress this enough. the best time to become great is now, today. do not let your potential go to waste. as long as you’re breathing, you’re capable of greatness.
everything provided here is a framework, a blueprint for you to build.
many would sit back and wait, acting like they have more time on their hands, but the issue is, there isn’t more time.
don’t let that be you. understand that your potential is infinite, everything else, is not.
start today. build today. use the blueprint and build a damn skyscraper.
a whole metropolis if you know you’re destined for more.
either this is a wake up call for you, or a firm reminder.
nonetheless, don’t let this information go to waste.
do what you will.
