The first thing I noticed when I started working in fashion (side note: I worked in fashion marketing for a year) was that you get an entirely different feeling of time. You have to think way ahead into the future - which means you’re planning winter collections wearing summer clothes. And I still can’t focus on a season for long without planning my wardrobe for the next season - but it could also just be the fact that I’m obsessed with fall fashion.
Anyways, I thought I’d show you what I’ve been wearing, reading and watching in August so far - in the hope that both you and I can enjoy dressing for the last days of summer more.
August was a great mix of work and play so far, and I’ve finally found my rhythm with my wardrobe again. Yes, I’m outfit-repeating a lot and the fits are simpler than simple but I’m okay with that. We did have a few heatwaves in the city, so it was more 'doing my best to survive in linen’ than ‘coastal chic’.
A special mention needs to be reserved for Pottery.* Their team kindly sent me three of their pieces to try and they blend into my workwear rotation seamlessly. The pieces are made of great quality, and have really gotten me out of my late-summer style rut for the office: a knee-length satin skirt*, an oversized button-down* and a grey baby tee*. Pottery is a Korean brand (you should absolutely search for Pottery Korea Clothing on TikTok and check out their store interior, too!). I wanted to try their pieces because they are minimal, don’t include logos / branding and give away that quiet luxury feeling I want, especially in my office looks. So, long story short: They are everything my minimalist heart needs.
Yesteryear, of course (10/10). And anything by Freida McFadden, who you might know as the author of The Housemaid. The Divorce and The Boyfriend didn’t take more than two days to finish, and I’m currently reading Never Lie.

This post on outfit-repeating by the one and only Kelly Williams which fully convinced me to keep outfit-repeating (and bag-repeating as seen in my outfit pictures) until the end of summer now.
On Shopping My Closet recently asked me if I watch the video-versions of podcasts or just listen to them which is such an interesting question and yes, I sometimes do watch my favorite podcasts on Youtube.
‘An Excellent Fit’ is hard competition for my other favorite fashion podcast ‘Fashion Neurosis’ at the moment, and I really enjoyed watching this episode with Raven Smith (and this post by Kelly Williams on top / bottom maximilism / minimalism is worth a read after this!) :

I’m also a huge Emma Mackey - fan and PORTER just always gets it right … the styling, the interviews, the natural cuts in their filming. I admit I’ve watched this multiple times:
The amount of time I think about menswear is ridiculous at this point. But the new Aaron Levine x ZARA drop is out and I have my eyes on a few pieces - including this suede bag. And let’s be honest, I would be more than happy to just stare at the look book for hours.
The styling in Sterling Point, the new Prime Video hit series which was styled by Marissa Schwartz, is to die for. The characters’ wardrobes feel just as natural and authentic as the dialogues. There are many, many videos on the internet discussing Annie’s looks in particular, and then I found this interview via The Set Set, which even has a Toronto Vintage Guide in it.
