A yellow weather warning for dangerously high temperatures has been issued across most of Bulgaria for Friday, August 21, with temperatures expected to reach 39 degrees Celsius. The warning does not apply to the districts of Dobrich, Varna and Burgas, or to a small part of Shumen District.
The weather will remain clear and mostly calm overnight. Friday will bring widespread sunshine, with temperatures rising sharply around and after noon. A light to moderate east-southeasterly wind will develop, while daytime highs will generally range from 34 to 39 degrees. Sofia is expected to reach around 35 degrees.
Sunny conditions are also forecast in the mountains. Winds there will be moderate from the east-northeast, with temperatures reaching about 29 degrees at an altitude of 1,200 meters and around 22 degrees at 2,000 meters.
Along the Black Sea coast, Friday will remain sunny with a light to moderate east-southeasterly wind. Maximum temperatures will be between 27 and 30 degrees, while sea water temperatures will range from 24 to 25 degrees. Wave conditions are expected to remain relatively moderate, at 2 to 3 points.
Atmospheric pressure is forecast to fall during the day and remain below the average level for August.
