Nicholas Barron · Notes for Writers

How’s your week gone? This week was my first as a self-employed freelance writer. I’ve spent it at my husband’s family’s farm in western Massachusetts.

I learned that in self-employment, the days go quickly. Even without the distractions of home and a schedule devoted to working, I rarely completed all that I wanted to each day. But that’s OK because I did enough.

May we all get done today what we must. Let us relish anything more that we accomplish, and accept that we’ll always have something to do tomorrow.

The best writing advice I’ve ever received is: Just cut the parts you know people are going to skip.
