Nicholas Barron · Notes for Writers

Hi Writer,

This email is brought you entirely from my iPhone. No, this isn’t an Apple ad. It’s the FML of my week. My computer is getting repaired this week, so I’m working using my iPhone. It’s not great.

But there’s a lesson here. We’re capable of accomplishing more than we think. A freelance writer without a computer is as useful as decaf coffee. Yet, I wrote a lot and got newsletters out the door as planned.

So, whenever life takes your computer, make lemonade. Or something like that.

Thanks for reading,
Nick

P.S. I got my laptop back late yesterday. This was me before I did. 👇

Could you do me a favor and share this email with others? Thank you!

Working until your laptop runs out of power so you have to recharge while it does is honestly one of the best writing tips I’ve ever been given.

You can tell how serious you are about your New York Freelance Writer career by how many coffeeshop restroom door codes you've memorized.

some of the best writing advice i ever got was from my 9th grade history teacher: write like readers are ignorant but intelligent. they don’t know, but can learn.

All of us are ignorant about the things we don’t know. Being ignorant isn’t an insult; it’s an opportunity to learn.
