Week #17

Having missed writing the blog for 2 weeks in between, it feels like I am starting over. But there is a bittersweet feeling about starting over. You leave behind all the excuses and focus on what's next. My finals are over, the two-week hiatus was worth it as I believe I did quite well in all my courses. One of the biggest projects for this semester was my form project taught by Blake Hudelson ,…

Week #14

Finals is here. The final 2 weeks for my semester are here and I couldn't be more excited. Not really for the finals themselves, that part sucks and I am almost on the brink of a burnout. But I look forward to the holidays afterwards. Tho I will not get much rest (gotta work on that portfolio), I will be getting a lot of time spent with family who I have dearly missed. What scares me is that this…

Week #13

The cold strikes! This one's going to be the shortest one yet. It was a rough week as most of it was spent being sick. Thankfully, it happened right now and not during finals week. Regardless, I was able to complete all my projects on time. I also happened to visit our college's art gallery, which had some interesting pieces.

Week #12

A week of rest and rejuvenation. I took a break from the busy schedule of grad school. I finally got a much-needed haircut and made time to visit the Golden Gate Bridge. The walk across was refreshing, and the small hike at the end of the bridge to the viewpoint was the cherry on top. The hike made us super hungry, so we stopped at Ghirardelli Square to eat Mexican food and munch on sundaes. Grad…

Week #11

I feel like I am getting the hang of this. My previous weekly update was basically a rant, mostly because I wanted to do everything everywhere all at once, which is impossible. What you need to do is prioritize and let go of things that are lower in importance at the moment. This week was my first Halloween, and it was eventful. Even despite the hectic schedule, I found time to enjoy a little. I…

Week #10

This is getting to me, so this one will be super short. Grad school is tough, and not for the usual reasons. It is not the long lectures, not the assignments, not the people, nor the new country. But the fact that you have to juggle all of it together. The cognitive overload is intense, and I can now tell with complete awareness that I had not considered this at all. I would look at each thing as…

Week #9

Today I complete 2 months living in San Francisco. Whenever I try to look back and reflect on time, it feels disorienting. Two months can feel like two years and two weeks at the same time, and that makes you dizzy in the head. In the moment, you can sometimes lose your grasp of time and live each day at a time, focusing on tomorrow. It is when you look back and reflect that you realize how much…

Week #8

Things are picking up pace, and I am finally enjoying the run. As hectic as grad school can get, I feel I am now finding a balance that works for me. One that includes all the things in the right amount. The week was pretty packed with assignments throughout the week and some socializing during the weekend. A lot of work I am doing for the class might not turn into projects that I put on…

Week #7

Writing this one a bit later than I usually do. It's monday night, cozied up inside my bed and blanket because my feet get too cold. SF has started to become cold as each day passes. Coming from the warm climate of India, it gets quite tough in the morning. This week was stressful as I procrastinated on all my assignments and ended up doing them towards the end with however little time I had left.…

Week #6

Procrastination is the enemy. This week was supposed to be a bit easier in the assignments department. Instead of doing them slowly over the course of the whole week, here I am on a Monday with none of them ready for submission. The instant gratification monkey took over and took charge. Thankfully, this week was light enough to make this mistake without much consequence, not every week will be…
