Striker smashes league new boys with four-goal haul and first win for manager

A six-goal show to turn the heat up on the leaders.

Buckie Thistle thrashed Highland League new boys Invergordon 6-0 on Saturday, helped by a four-goal salvo from striker Josh Peters.

Jags remain unbeaten and sit in second spot just a point behind leaders Brora rangers with a game in hand.

Brett Findlay and captain Darryl McHardy completed the rout, making it five wins and a draw for Lewis Mackinnon’s men so far.

Brora, who had Ross Draper sent off, had to settle for a 0-0 draw with Inverurie Locos while Rothes pulled off one of the wins of the day.

A 3-2 success over Wick Academy was only the Speysiders’ second league success in two seasons, and a first in charge of the team for manager Ryan Esson.

Rothes took control with a Shaun Cameron double and a Dylan Lawrence effort to dominate the pointless Scorries.

Wick did hit back and Euan Kennedy and Gordy MacNab got two back to make it a nervy last ten minutes for the hosts.

Lossiemouth’s brilliant undefeated start was ended by a 4-0 defeat at home to Fraserburgh.

Lewis Duncan (pen), Scott Barbour, Logan Watt and Angus Robbie guided Broch to the full points.

Celmiro scored his first Highland league goal for Deveronvale to give the Banff side a half time lead over Forres Mechanics.

Kaiden Connolly netted midway through the second half to earn Mechanics a point.

Keith are still looking for their first win of the season after crashing 4-1 at Formartine United.

All the goals came in the final half hour with Hamish Ritchie, Connor Scully, Michael Dangana and Tyler Mykyta on target for United and Ewan Clark’s first goal for Keith notching up a consolation.

Kyle MacLeod’s first goal for Strathspey Thistle paved the way for a 2-1 win at Turriff United.

And Clachnacuddin were 6-1 winners at home to Nairn County with Troy Cooper and Jordan MacRae each netting first half doubles.

Huntly drew 2-2 with Banks o’ Dee, who led through a Michael Philipson goal before Michael Clark and Matty Walllace scored either side of the break for Huntly, but Grady McGrath scored for the fifth league game running to land Dee a point.
