I keep finding myself overwhelmed because of my constant ambition to do the biggest possible version of the thing. It’s very alluring to chase something giant. But then it stops me from actually being able to finish anything at all! So today I am practicing doing the smallest version of the thing. All in balance. Here is a very short poem I wrote and nothing else!
Over the hills and the bushes
Over the patches of dew
The thought flew away
Though we begged it to stay
And we wished it would say what it knew.
It knew just enough not to tell us
It knew just enough not to care
If a thought flies alone
He’s a thought never known
He’s a thought thunk right into thin air.
