chris kalaboukis · Nomads 50+ Midlife Recalibrated, Travel Optional.

Almost 500 days ago, I launched Nomads 50+ with a pretty simple idea: create something useful for people over 50 who knew there was more ahead of them and were interested in exploring what that might look like.

At the time, travel and digital nomadism were a big part of the idea. They still are. But over those 500 days, Nomads 50+ has become something broader.

It has increasingly become about recalibration.

About looking at the next 10, 20, or 30 years and asking what you actually want to do with them. Where do you want to live? How do you want to work? How much freedom do you want? What would you like to build, try, change, or experience while you have the opportunity?

And as Nomads 50+ has evolved, I’ve built a pretty substantial library to help answer those questions.

If you’ve been enjoying Nomads 50+ and are seriously considering this next chapter, consider becoming a paid subscriber. You’ll get full access to every in-depth city guide, each Sunday Spark business idea, and the upcoming Recalibrate50+—a structured, ongoing guide to help you move from dreaming about your next chapter to designing it carefully and confidently. Your support keeps this publication independent, ad-free, and focused on helping adults redefine what life after 50 can truly look like.

For almost 500 days, I’ve kept The Next Chapter membership at $5/month or $50/year.

During that time, I’ve created:

50 City Guides covering destinations around the world for people considering a more location-independent life.

45+ Sunday Sparks exploring practical location-independent businesses you could start using the experience and skills you’ve accumulated over your career.

Recalibration Playbooks, my newest series of practical, tactical guides designed to help you actually do something about the next chapter rather than just think about it.

And, of course, there’s the growing archive of Nomads 50+ writing exploring work, money, travel, purpose, independence, technology, and what it means to build a genuinely interesting life after 50.

The goal isn’t to produce more content for you to consume.

It’s to create useful resources you can actually use.

The next major addition is Recalibrate50+.

This is not another article, PDF, or workbook. It’s an interactive tool I’m building to help you work through your own midlife recalibration in a structured way.

The idea is simple: instead of staring at the enormous question of “What should I do with the rest of my life?”, Recalibrate50+ will help you break that question down, explore possibilities, run small experiments and gradually design a next chapter that actually fits you.

It’s something I’ve wanted Nomads 50+ to become for a while: not just a place where I write about recalibration, but a place that actually helps you do it.

And there’s much more I want to build from here.

On August 28, 2026, Nomads 50+ reaches Day 500.

That feels like a pretty good moment to make a change I’ve been considering for some time.

Beginning August 29, The Next Chapter membership will change from

$5/month → $9/month

and

$50/year → $99/year

That’s a significant increase, and I’m not going to pretend otherwise.

But it’s also the first increase in 500 days, during which the amount of material and resources included in the membership has grown dramatically.

More importantly, the new price reflects where I’m taking Nomads 50+, not simply where it has been.

If you’ve been reading Nomads 50+ for free and have thought about upgrading at some point, I’ve deliberately given you some notice.

You can still join The Next Chapter at $5/month or $50/year until August 28.

So rather than running a sale before the price increase, I’m doing something simpler:

You get the old price.

Upgrade before the change and you can get a full year of everything currently behind the paywall, plus everything I’m publishing over the coming year, for $50.

That’s less than $1 a week.

One City Guide that saves you from choosing the wrong destination could justify that. One business idea that turns into something real could dwarf it. One Recalibration Playbook that gets you to finally make a change you’ve been postponing could be worth considerably more.

You don’t need to use all of it.

You just need to find the parts that matter to your next chapter.

One of the themes I keep coming back to at Nomads 50+ is that “someday” is a surprisingly dangerous word.

Someday I’ll travel more.

Someday I’ll figure out what I want to do next.

Someday I’ll start that little business.

Someday I’ll leave the job.

Someday I’ll spend a few months somewhere else.

Someday I’ll finally do the thing I’ve been talking about doing for years.

At 25, someday can feel infinite.

After 50, you start understanding that it isn’t.

That’s not depressing. I think it’s liberating. It gives the next chapter some urgency.

And perhaps a little urgency is exactly what we need.

So here’s mine.

August 28 is Day 500.

That’s when the new Next Chapter pricing of $9/month or $99/year begins.

Until then, you can still join for $5/month or $50/year.

If you’ve been sitting on the fence, I’d climb down now.

Your next chapter isn’t going to write itself.
