I am listening to When Things Fall Apart again as I find myself spiraling down…

After so many weeks of extreme weather challenges and not finding simple accommodations, I broke.

The uncertainty that excited me for the past three years now suddenly frightens me. Maybe even in the darkness, there is always a horizon to look toward.

There is a quiet, raw simplicity to the island. The land is mostly flat, so you may wonder: How can a mountain girl find magic in such a flat place?

I am always amazed by the power of typing my deepest feelings on my keyboard. It feels like a conversation between me, myself, and I. That’s already a community. :)

I absolutely love when a landscape stops me in my tracks and spontaneous sounds of awe come out from deep inside me.

I know myself too well. Moving on is always my first instinct. It is only 4:30. I still have at least three hours of daylight left. However, the red bench swing is calling me to sit and relax.

I know I hold the choice to simply head “home” earlier and rest. I also believe that the only way I can learn to soften my soul is by practicing how to softly embrace the challenges...

I sit for a while, seeking an intimate moment with God through prayer. I know I will find my way…

Perhaps this is what trying softly looks like. Staying open. Allowing myself to change direction. Trusting the invitation in front of me. Letting the journey lead me.
