On Sunday, June 28, join the No Data Centers San Gabriel Valley Coalition outside Monterey Park City Hall as we mark a historic milestone in our movement. Earlier this month, 88% of Monterey Park voters approved Measure NDC, making the city the first in California to permanently ban data centers through a ballot measure.
This isn’t just a Monterey Park victory. It’s proof that communities across the San Gabriel Valley want a different future, one that prioritizes public health, neighborhood quality of life, and responsible land use over polluting industrial development.
Come stand with elected officials, community leaders, and residents as we celebrate this win and call for stronger protections across the region. The fight doesn’t stop in Monterey Park. Together, we can ensure the rest of the San Gabriel Valley remains free of harmful data center development.

The fight for healthy communities continues in Covina, where a proposed 110-megawatt Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) could displace local businesses and introduce significant safety concerns for nearby neighborhoods.
Thanks to everyone who answered our call to action and emailed the Covina Planning Commission last week. Together, we generated more than 300 letters opposing the project. Hundreds of community members also attended this week’s Planning Commission meeting. The turnout was so large that the meeting could not be completed and has been continued to next week.
Now we need another strong showing.
Join us on Tuesday, June 30, at 7:00 p.m. at Covina City Hall to demand a moratorium on Battery Energy Storage Systems until stronger safety standards, thorough environmental review, and meaningful community protections are in place. Following recent industrial fires across Southern California, our communities deserve transparency, accountability, and a real voice before projects like this move forward.
We’ll be there beginning at 6:00 p.m. with water and light snacks.
We’re looking for volunteers to help us reach residents ahead of the Tuesday, June 30 Planning Commission meeting, where the proposed 110-megawatt Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will be discussed. Every conversation helps build awareness and encourages more people to speak up.
