This week the construction of our Melamine Cabinet began. The first two whole days were spent just breaking out the materials we needed. So many different pairs of melamine, particleboard, plywood, and solid wood. Put some good time in at the table saw.
The construction is pretty straight forward for the cabinet, but with the melamine being so brittle it’s hard to work with without causing it to chip.
The main thing that we worked on is assembling the cabinet body. Once the cabinet body was glued up the work shifted to assembling the cabinet top and laminating the edges of my drawer faces.
Sleep has been a major issue this entire course, and as the course gets closer and closer to being done it’s harder to stay alert in the classes. When assembling my top, I glued on my mitres from solid wood. I did a bad job and I’m not proud of it. So I cut them off and I’m going to start again. I need to be more diligent with how much sleep I’m getting.
Again, with the course ending soon, I need to spend some time on finding a job.
