This week was the final week of working on my tool box. Now all that was left to do was put the finishing touches on.

I began the week with the construction of my drawer.

I used dovetail joints for this drawer. The dovetails were made using the manual dovetail machine. I inserted my pieces that were cut to length but left 1mm extra for width (77mm because we sanded it down to 76 on the wide belt sander) after the dovetails were made, I sanded the interior and then marked out where my finger scoop would go. I then cut it out on the drill press with the 1 inch bit. After than was done I began doing practice cuts to make my groove for my drawer bottom to be inserted. After I got the required measurements for my specific drawer I cut the groove and put the bottom in. Then it was time to cut out a 25mm/2.5mm rebate so I could insert the piano hinge which would be used to connect both the lid and box together. Once the cut was made I sanded it down flush and installed the piano hinge. All that was left was sanding. Once that was done I cleaned up and handed it in. I got an 81/100 with some good feedback on what to work on.

I gave the tool box to my father for Father’s Day.
