Hello ❋

First thing that hooked me to My Father’s Shadow was the movie poster. One of my favourites of the year for sure! The movie, taking place in Lagos, depicts two young children exploring the city following their father. The touching relationship between the characters is mixed with the troubled political context of the 1993 Nigerian election. I loved the movie’s slow pace, its atmosphere, and I was especially struck by the original soundtrack.

I’ve recently come across 2 brandings that were both trying to represent architecture in their designs. First is Orange House branding by xyz, using the characters as blocks conveying the idea of a building silhouette. The second one is the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy, an organisation preserving the infamous architect’s pieces. Order built this identity from a block grid, using negative space as a reference to the group’s historical identity. I love how the system develops through the different materials and achieves being modern, yet has a vintage feeling.

If you give a lot of presentations, Moody is a fun plugin for MacBook, extending the notch as a teleprompter.

I love the idea behind Waku toys, mixing 3D printed designs with existing objects, mostly marbles, to create playful and customizable toys. I especially love the motorbike!

I had the chance, when I went to New York a few years back, to visit the Herb Lubalin Study Center, which was one of my best experiences. Having the opportunity to leaf through the typographic and design archive. I think I will develop more on this one day, but for now, I just wanted to share some recent paperback editions designed by Milton Glaser that were recently added to their collection.
