This Sunday, 3rd November I am hosting a ‘Come Home to Yourself’ Yoga and Meditation live online class, I would love for you to join.

Book here

This inward journey involves visiting parts of yourself that may have been long forgotten or lost. Like any pilgrimage, we approach it with reverence, devotion, and faith. It requires a deep trust in the unknown and a willingness to strip bare who we and others think we are. As with any deep dive, this journey will challenge much of what we thought we knew.

Yet, it’s an exciting and invigorating path - an opportunity to meet yourself, perhaps for the first time in this lifetime, and to fall in love with your true essence and all its wisdom and wonder.

“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” - Carl Jung

Our true essence is our soul, our inner light, the part of us that never dies. And it is always there; it always has been, and it always will be - even in times when we feel disconnected from it. It isn’t a case of creating your true essence because this is a remembrance. At some point in time, you knew this part of yourself very well.

My personal belief? We forget, during our time on Earth, that we are souls having a human experience, with a mission, a purpose, and a reason we chose to incarnate at this exact time. And maybe there’s a valid reason why we forget… What if part of our mission and purpose is to learn and evolve through the very process of remembering?

“Your soul knows the way. Trust it.” - Jeanette Winterson

I believe it is rare to meet someone who has stripped back all the ‘stuff’ to reveal their true essence. By ‘stuff,’ I mean external conditioning, programming, and societal and cultural norms - almost everything outside of us has the potential to dilute our essence if we allow it to. These influences aren’t necessarily ‘bad,’ but maintaining our essence requires self awareness, preventing external forces from shaping us entirely and causing us to lose sight of who we truly are.

Programming is a relevant word within this context - think of a computer programme with all the codes, downloads, and systems that it holds. The same is true for us - throughout our whole lives we are downloading programmes and systems, and many of those have come from outside of us, not from within.

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

In modern life, it’s challenging - almost impossible - to let go of all these influences because they often do keep us safe, integrated within community, and connected to others. It’s when they come to define our identity that we can lose touch entirely with who we really are.

With this awareness, let’s explore how we can reconnect with our true essence.

So, how do we approach this journey of coming home to our true essence? Call back your power. Reconnect with yourself. Dedicate time to ground, centre, and align with the inner world that longs to be seen and heard. This looks different for everyone - whether through practicing yoga and meditation, mindful breathing, intentional time in nature, or journalling. You know what works for you; if not, discovering what resonates is itself part of the practice.

For me personally, yoga and meditation have been gateways to self-discovery, opening doors to aspects of myself and our world that I had long forgotten.

As mentioned above, treat this journey as an inner pilgrimage. It deserves a sacred approach, so set aside intentional time, create a safe space, and embrace moments of solitude. Allow whatever arises to flow naturally, and cultivate a deeper connection with your subtle self.

“The quieter you become, the more you can hear.” - Ram Dass

Give yourself permission to surrender to the unknown, to release the grip on who you’ve been told to be, and to approach your inner light with curiosity and openness. It’s a beautiful process - and this is where your true power lies. Connecting to your essence is where your wild wisdom resides, where you connect to your ancestors and meet divine guidance - your inner compass.

We’re so often told what’s good or bad, right or wrong, acceptable or improper. This can clip our wings, holding us back from flying. Flying for me is when we feel free to spread our wings and truly embrace who we are, and to express that confidently without fear of judgement or being called crazy.

Be prepared for when you do begin to connect to your true essence, your perspective on life is likely to change, and you may find big shifts and changes start to manifest in your life. This is the process of you aligning with your true divine path.

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” - Oscar Wilde

Embrace your uniqueness and difference. That’s what makes life exciting. Explore the wild and wonderful gifts waiting to be discovered within you, and birth the creations that only you can bring into the world.

“I don’t know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring.”

- David Bowie

We all have unique offerings, creations, and gifts that I believe will transform this world as we know it. It’s just that we’re all so conditioned to be a carbon copy of one another that we forget who we are and what we’re capable of.

Here is a card I have pulled for you from my personal deck:

Imrama

‘The Celtic word Imrama means a journey of the soul. A voyage on which we don’t know where we are going, but our soul knows the way. You are being called to journey to a place that is sacred to your soul. It could be to a physical ancient place or metaphoric.”

Sending an abundance of love your way.
