Ninamarie Bell · The Creative Practice with Ninamarie Bell

This space for reflecting and externalizing how I am thinking about my creative process, songwriting and recording process feels timely and urgent. But not in a rushed way, more like an essential way. It is essential for the creation and development of the work itself, for connecting with you and anyone else craving creative inspiration and more examples of true artist process, and in this space and time it feels increasingly nourishing to us all. A glimmer, a reflection, at times a sounding board, that is all I am asking this space to be. One that I hope at times gently reminds you of your own divinity as a creative being, of your own light or curiosity, and of the power in the whimsy that unfolds when we actually follow the spark of inspiration inviting us to play. Play is not a luxury, in truth it is an ancient medicine our ancestors used for generations of resistance and nourishment, and healing. It is all of that for us too. Healing for all the ailments of a world that may tell us loudly that play is a luxury, frivolous, or only “for the creatives”.

This sharing outside myself, with you, allows for the engagement I am finding carries the music, and me, to where we must go, beyond ourselves. External. Where? I don’t really know. My hope is to you, and then to where it must. To be a songwriter, songbird and practitioner of art truly requires that one be open to many possibilities.

I am building my muscle of trust falling when I feel that spark of direction that tells me “go” before there is any proof of concept. There can be no proof if you do not act first. If you do not take it beyond your inner most self.

And so this will be that external home for myself as ARTIST. A place to document the work that goes into the music behind the scenes. Most especially the deep and accidental healing work I am doing in myself to further reduce the internal barriers as high as Mauna Loa that keep me from expressing my voice/truth/self in the first place.

The story of how I am overcoming these blocks and learning to find my voice as a singer-songwriter, as an artist, at all is what I hope to uncover here. That and how you might overcome those blocks in you, too. A space for being present with the magic of artist p r o c e s s currently swirling around me. My particular brand of magic is always coming back to voice and place. It - this - what we will reflect on together in this space - is the work of making leaning into surrender and magic a strategy for timely creations and potent thriving.

I can’t wait to bring you in the studio with me. More very soon.
