Prom, Casino, Pool, Repeat

This Thursday is so good I had to resurrect the Substack.

Wrap: I don’t know what’s going on in New York. I do know that the SAA pool is finally open and has brought many the pure, unadulterated joy of a community pool without the threat of rare diseases. Lounge chairs are luxe, double-cushioned, the good stuff, and the food is divine — sundaes, oysters, cantaloupe slushies. Coney Island fireworks every Friday night. Mambo every Saturday night.

To quote my mother from an earlier post:

You’re only this hot and this young once. Go out.

This Thursday

• For all the downtown freaks who never made it to prom, we present “The Downtown Prom.” This is a Mr. Weinberger, Scott Lipps, and many host (including me!) production. Music from Sexy Damion, Blog Analog, Loose Buttons, Boxxer and DJs are Estrella, Elektra, Do No Harm, and more eccentric names. Wear something fun, invite a crush, or two, or three, ruffle some feathers. Tickets here. I’ll be checking IDs at the door.

• Before prom, Cafe Forgot is turning into Cafe Casino and hosting a really great event. Martinis, roulette, they’re speaking my language! 5-7pm at the shop. 

• If you want a more intimate sexy thing pre-prom, there is free jazz at Funny Bar. 9pm.

• Time Again is having a good, partnership summer. Hard Sun, a hip new sunscreen, is launching with Slam Jam. Dese is djing. And there will be a car?

• A ping pong tournament, a birthday, a single release! Rex Detiger, Blu Detiger, Jean D’Armes, and Adore are djing. Guest list only.

• For the late late night, NY’s hottest new club is Monsieur. Matt FX and Kiki Kramer are hosting.

Friday

• Coney Island fireworks at 9:45pm.

• If you want to get wet, go to SAA for their Friday late night pool party. Entry is at door discretion (me). Wear a tasteful bikini that peaks out of a Christopher Esber dress for guaranteed entry. Or reserve a table.

• Savoia, my favorite boy band, is wrapping up their residency at Mercury Lounge.

• Special Request is b2b with DJ Swisha at Sangs for Club Night. This is a good one.

Saturday

• MAMBO.
