And just like that, it’s May. Hope this finds you well.
TRIVIA QUESTION: Sorry, I just couldn’t think of a good one today. Maybe next time.
TIDEPOOL IS A KINDLE DAILY DEAL: Just for today, the eBook of my Stoker-nominated debut TIDEPOOL is on sale for $1.99. If you haven’t read it yet, get the eBook here: https://www.amazon.com/Tidepool-Nicole-Willson-ebook/dp/B08L6YNSN6. If you have read it, please spread the word about this sale, which again is today only.
And don’t forget my other works. THE KEEPER OF THE KEY is available here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CQFG8XWZ.
My historical circus horror novella THE SHADOW DANCERS OF BRIXTON HILL was a finalist for the Speculative Fiction Indie Novella Championships. (It didn’t win, but that’s fine. It got some new readers and I got to meet some new writer friends, which was what I’d hoped for.) You can get it here: https://www.amazon.com/Shadow-Dancers-Brixton-Hill-ebook/dp/B0C4C19Q2L/
WHAT I’M WATCHING: I just finished binge-watching The Pitt, Max’s new hospital series starring Noah Wyle, who impressively enough does not remind me at all of his doctor character from ER even though he’s playing another ER doctor here. This series was incredibly engaging; it reminded me of ER without all the soapy subplots ER often featured. I had to hide my eyes a few times because I can be a horrible wimp about surgical gore, but I still enjoyed it.
WHAT I’M READING: Bill recently handed me Shaun Tan’s Tales from Outer Suburbia, and I read it in one gulp. It’s an anthology of short fiction that really defies easy categorization. The stories are weird and whimsical and delightful, and Tan’s stunning illustrations are worth examining at length. You can find out more about it here: https://www.shauntan.net/new-page-30
Thanks so much for reading, and if you know anyone who might be interested in my work, please feel free to pass this along to them.
Stay spooky and safe,
Nicole
