I’ve taken a few potshots at slop bowls here, and I’ve felt good about each one. But Fare stands out for its quality, creativity, and conciseness.

La Shuk’s power is focus. Instead of a broad menu, this one is blessedly lean, making it impossible to go wrong.

The stools are creaky, the bathrooms are comically tiny, and the lighting can best be described as unflattering. But if you love a real dive bar, this is as good as it gets in the Loop.
