Today the world ends.
I am rising.
I can feel
The wave growing.
It will wash away
Everything in its wake.
I am the destroyer,
But also the builder.
I erase to make room
For what comes next.
I am the unstoppable force,
The rock that will ignite in the atmosphere
And decimate the world
With fire and molten rock.
I’ll change everything.
I am inevitable.
Nothing lasts forever.
And so I will ascend,
Rising high to look down
Upon the new world
Of my making.
And I will use
The broken, raw elements that remain
To construct
A beautiful, undeniable
Work of art.
I have already begun.
It’s pumping within me.
I can feel its heat
Swimming under my skin,
Pulling my body forward.
One step at a time,
It moves my hand on this paper.
Its will is my own.
It speaks to me,
And I to it,
And we are in harmony.
I can sense it
In the tips of my fingers,
In the hairs on the backs of my arms,
Electrifying me.
My eyes are sharper today.
I am clear.
Once dormant cells
Are reanimated.
The permafrost
Has melted and cracked away,
And the warm air is seeping its way down into the cracks,
Melting the ice deeper
Into the black and blue recesses
Of the heart of me that no one can see.
It’s churning into me,
I can feel
The turbulent flow
Deeper down,
Snaking its way into
My unreachable depths.
A soul that has been
A giant, dark cavern
Now has its own sun
Rising above a subterranean ocean of possibility.
It can be explored for millennia.
Creatures here
Are unbelievable.
A world that is unimaginable.
So I’ll let myself
Fall inward.
I stand at the edge of my own spine,
Like a ladder
To the infinite.
I hold my arms out,
Close my eyes,
And fall backward
Through burning clouds
And the old world,
Disappears into the heavens
Of my new universe.
I watch the past
Get smaller as I plunge,
And I turn over
Flying, not falling anymore.
I survey the terrain.
I am in control.
The only question now is:
Where do I land?
To start.
