The now-sidelined Newport manager has emerged as one of just two finalists to become the next city manager of Janesville, Wisconsin.
Yes, you read that correctly.
While Kennedy was battling the Newport City Council over his employment — a fight that culminated Saturday with the council placing him on paid administrative leave and voting not to renew his contract — he was advancing through another city’s recruitment process.
