Dear new feminisms Reader,

I’ve only been on here three weeks, so you’ll have to forgive me for all the little updates and transitions as I nail down a sustainable format that 1.) doesn’t overwhelm you or 2.) me.

One of the periodic humiliations of being a writer is doing too much. Substack poses a fun challenge, asking the writer to do the bare minimum, and consistently. I am not wholly convinced that this platform cannot do everything that WordPress or another CMS can do. Meaning, this might become a magazine. Hence the letter from the editor.

THE NEW LESBIAN PULP is Now Sitting Up With Assistance: Six Months of a Book Baby

I have not devoted much time to celebrating or reflecting on the publication of The New Lesbian Pulp last August; have been more inclined to yield my time to the public (reviewers, readers). Given the state of publishing, it feels like it’s time to pull the curtain back on this five-year passion project: including but not limited to financials, fun, and the future of queer short fiction.

My written-at-the-Nth-hour submission to The New Lesbian Pulp (editors write too, ya’ll) – replete with a new introduction and some notes on the work’s unseen paranormal aspects. It’s my usual, two-girls-in-an-apartment-amid-external-conflict tale. This one centers the U.S. Presidential election. And comms girls.
