Before we call a child rude, lazy, stubborn or naughty, we need to pause and ask: What might this behaviour be telling us?
In this video, I explain seven behaviours that adults commonly misunderstand, including appearing not to listen, constant movement, emotional outbursts, avoiding eye contact, struggling with change, avoiding schoolwork and seeming clumsy.
These behaviours may sometimes be linked to ADHD, autism, dyslexia, language difficulties or coordination difficulties. One behaviour alone does not confirm a diagnosis, but persistent difficulties deserve curiosity, understanding and appropriate support
