I have struggled with perfectionism my whole life.
It’s been pushed on me by society and was little me’s #1 strategy to feel safe and in control. For a long time it was a super helpful strategy, and what’s wrong with trying to do your best?
As a 38-year old human who has spent untold hours and dollars doing “the work” it’s one of the most insidious things I still wrestle with.
Frankly, it’s fucking annoying.
It means I get to constantly interrogate why and how I am doing everything in my life (fun!). So often I find myself taking on a new project that should be fun, only to get stuck in obsession and inaction because it HAS to be done exactly. this. way.
It’s a drag.
