Acquisitions update No.36

All-Dressed up (with chips) and no place to go (except maybe Canada - I wish).

Acquisitions update No.35

Happy birthday to me! Only two new items, but plenty of news. (Now with, hopefully, correct link.)

Acquisitions update No.34

What a wonderful sunny day it was, and on a completely unrelated note, I bought things again. Also, kitty.

Acquisitions update No.33

A second trip to Tapper's nets me a lightened load and a small haul in return, on a particularly foggy day.

Acquisitions update No.32

Some long forgotten things that we already had, and some new things representing even older things.

Golf Movies You May Have Missed

Looking to expand your golf media literacy? Consider checking out some of these (fictional) movies...

Acquisitions update No.31

Better than the legend itself?! Maybe...

Acquisitions update No.30

Putting positive waves into the air.

Acquisitions update No.29

Tumultuous times dictate that things be covered up with sticky notes.

Acquisitions update No.28

A kind contribution leads to striking one of the weirder items from the Wishlist - and also a look into a world too rich for me.

Acquisitions update No.27

Golfshrine's second-largest individual item to date, if it really counts as an individual item!

Acquisitions update No.26

Two boxes of goodies: games for Palm PDAs, some PS1 demo discs, plastic Yoshis, and handfuls of other Weird Things!

Acquisitions update No.25

For a Color TV Game Console that never left Japan, and from a video game video producer who is much, much bigger than I am; I'm just happy to have this thing in my hands now!

Acquisitions update No.24

One more Links game! One that doesn't seem documented in English yet, at that.

Links Extreme

The most well-respected series in computer golf history decides to try something different. Does it work? [/shrug]

The Golf Clock

It's been stuck to the front lip of one of Golfshrine's many shelves for months - but does it still play? I sought to find out, last September. ...and neglected to document it.

Neo Turf Masters tournament players list

The pocket version of NTM has a lot of familiar names on its scoreboard. Who are these people, anyway? You'd be surprised...

Acquisitions update No.23

How, precisely, can I turn one Links title into a whole update? Through mad golf science and one donation from reader Vikxin.

The wishlist grows again

Golfshrine starts the year off right(?) by making my first update of 2025 be... a massive expansion of the Wishlist. Shameless.

Acquisitions update No.22

Friend of Golfshrine, Herzog Zwei, found me something nice while out thrifting, so that more or less gets an update to itself, with a video clip even.

Golfer's Gallery grows greater

A few new golfers, snapshots of custom courses, and even our dear poor Schmoe have been added to the Gallery! On top of some aesthetic tweaks to said page that you might need to clear your cache for.

Acquisitions update No.21

It's been waiting in the wings for me to actually do it. Fewer games, but much more writing. Some of it almost topical.

The Digital Golf Swing (for real this time)

The swing of a golf club is a remarkably complicated thing in real life - and simulations may or may not make certain assumptions about it, in the name of video game appeal. (Now with fixed link.)

Golfshrine Digital Edition...?

In which I rant a bit about the nature of digital ownership, and what does and does not count as part of Golfshrine... and whether that even actually matters.

Acquisitions update No.20 - PRGE 2024 edition

I've been to Portland Retro Gaming Expo 2024, and spent an entire $40 on a pile of fascinating games that I haven't even tried to play yet, but still have things to say about why they're interesting.

Acquisitions update No.19

A small acquisitions update today to go along with a few other minor changes to the website - the navbar buttons have been moved to their own "Friends of Golfshrine" page (along with several new ones), and I increased the font size and line height a little bit to make things more readable.

Added the RSS feed

Not a fully fledged site update as such, but I did finally get an RSS feed working on here!

Links Tour Player Add-Ons and how I can't put a pointless mystery to bed

Transplanted from my Cohost: Access Software were, at one point, selling additional golfers for Links as well as courses. Were they only a one-off thing? Or a two-off?

The No Golf List

Transplanted from my Cohost: A running list of computerized platforms on which I have found not one single golf game.

Acquisitions update No.18

Quite a lot to put up today, as the imminent closure of Cohost is prompting me to transplant several posts I'd written into new articles (though nothing terribly elaborate) in addition to today's acquisitions.

Acquisitions update No.17

Some donations sent to the Shrine have finally arrived (and I've finally got off my duff and wrote about them) - one of them is haunted!

Acquisitions update No.16

I really need to slow down on this stuff, but I do at least have another extra weird side-story of gaming history today, among other things: the GameTrak motion-controller system!

Acquisitions update No.15

Have I mastered the Masters? No! But today's acquisitions update would include a few games with "Masters" in the title, and also, a new Golfer has been added to the Gallery!

Acquisitions update No.14

The start of some under-the-hood alterations to make Golfshrine a nicer experience - the Updates page is now an index, and each individual dated Update is now its own page. Fixed a few links here and there while I was at it, and also added links from the Enshrined page to the respective updates and articles. Additionally, four more things have just been Acquired this update, one of which isn't…

Acquisitions update No.13

Today's acquisitions are few, but demand I go into some detail - an unconventional golf legend is involved, I'll just say.

Acquisitions update No.12

Patience is a virtue. If I'd waited just one more day I could have added this to yesterday's update, but it'll just have to be today's instead!

Acquisitions update No.11

I can keep calling these things weird if I can think of a good excuse for them to be. Weirdness abounds in this week's acquisitions update!

Acquisitions update No.10 - The Golfshrine Birthday Update

I had my birthday this month; if I wasn't in my late 30s before, I am now. And what better way to celebrate the passage of time than with the gift of golf?

Acquisitions update No.9

A new addition to Golfshrine from Buick; I have now written the word "Buick" more times in one project than any non-car-driving type ever ought to.

Acquisitions update No.8

Golfshrine gets redesigned again?! Well the old design kinda didn't work right, so this time I made it work better. Hopefully. Maybe. Also a new update to the inventory!

Acquisitions update No.7

Alright, alright, I own the Eugene Levy game now. See updates for the brief. Also bear with me while I try to figure out how to make my navigation bar suck less. My apologies if it is somehow backwards.

Acquisitions update No.6

A trio of historical acquisitions from wonderful reader nebula, for a trio of the oldest video game consoles yet represented in the Golfshrine library.

The Car Company Golf Sim Rabbit Hole

Golfshrine has been redesigned, to take advantage of 8-year-dormant HTML5+CSS knowledge and reduce dependency on 30-year-old software. Additionally, new Article! When a car company sponsors a golf tournament, and then goes digital, and then hearkens back to their roots at the same time...

Acquisitions update No.5

A glut of Acquisitions updates that I've been sitting on for too long!

Acquisitions update No.4

PDA Tour Golf? Yup - check Acquisitions!

Acquisitions update No.3

More Acquisitions: a talking Game Gear game, a "3D" golf game that does not need to render, and...Frisbee? (gasp!)

Go Go Golf!

An Acquisition so strange it deserves a new Article - it's Go Go Golf! What happens when you try to simplify the game of golf a little too much?

Acquisitions update No.2

PGA Tour '96, for the third time? See Acquisitions.

Acquisitions update No.1

A new Acquisitions page for longer-form news, an articles section to keep the nav bar clean, and the most important addition of all: link buttons! Look down there!

The Enshrined section gets alphabetized

With help from another kind Netizen, the Enshrined list is now alphabetized, and I corrected a bunch of embarassing typos on the other pages.
