If you’re not ready to shell out ~20€ each month for AI access, your options are limited. There are free tiers of ChatGPT or Claude AI, but the models that power these entry levels are never the most powerful ones. What I wanted for myself:
diverse providers, so I can select whatever’s leading currently
pay-per-use pricing (or free)
multi-platform support: Mac, iPhone, Windows - all covered
Enter MyChatty: an app that aims to be useful on-the-go while still providing some of the more nerdy nooks and crannies:
support for OpenAI GPT-5.6 Pro (one of the most powerful models), Zhipu GLM-5.2 (most powerful model near the cost/intelligence pareto frontier) and OpenAI’s gpt-oss (which is super cheap to be had, or even free). Also, I have added support for Kimi K3, which could be a good model for Writing tasks.
Code Interpreter, allowing LLMs to do proper math
Web Browser behind the scenes, allowing LLMs to browse the web
AI Search engine integration
MyChatty is the successor in spirit to my LLM workbenches, and will hopefully improve on the UX aspect on mobile. Setting up remains a nerdy affair as it needs:
setting up an account with the respective providers, and getting an API key
a build environment, as I am currently not providing ready-made installers
Things planned:
voice input
export/share conversations
Amazon Bedrock support, e.g. for Palmyra Writer?
