For decades, discussions
surrounding nudism and naturism have often remained trapped between two extremes.
On one side: sensationalism, stereotypes, controversy, and misunderstanding.
On the other: small circles of internal discussion rarely accessible to broader society, institutions, policymakers, educators, researchers, or the general public.
Yet one major problem remained largely unresolved:
How can society seriously analyse, discuss, study, or understand naturism and non-sexual public nudity if the subject itself immediately becomes inaccessible in many educational, institutional, workplace, governmental, or professional environments?
That question became one of the driving forces behind the creation of the NaturismRE Nudism & Naturism Encyclopedias.
The NaturismRE encyclopedias were intentionally designed without photographic nudity.
Not because nudity is inherently wrong. Not because NaturismRE rejects naturism. Not because the human body should be hidden.
But because the project was never intended to function as another image-based naturist platform.
The objective was different.
The objective was to create a structured institutional knowledge framework capable of allowing people to examine naturism and non-sexual public nudity through:
public health
sociology
psychology
ethics
law
governance
culture
education
history
public policy
systems analysis
without immediately triggering workplace restrictions, professional limitations, social discomfort, or institutional barriers.
In simple terms:
Could people finally discuss the subject seriously before reacting emotionally to imagery?
Many traditional naturist resources focus primarily on describing naturism.
NaturismRE attempted something broader.
The encyclopedias were conceived as:
analytical systems
structured educational frameworks
multidisciplinary reference ecosystems
public understanding tools
institutional reference platforms
The intention was not simply to say: “this is naturism.”
The intention was to ask:
how does naturism interact with society?
what are the legal implications?
what role does public perception play?
how do stigma systems develop?
what are the health and wellbeing dimensions?
how does governance influence acceptance?
why do some societies tolerate non-sexual nudity while others react strongly against it?
These are institutional questions, not merely lifestyle questions.
Whether someone supports naturism, opposes it, or remains undecided, one thing should remain obvious:
Understanding is preferable to ignorance.
Modern societies routinely analyse:
violence
religion
war
addiction
politics
sexuality
ideology
health crises
social conflict
through structured educational systems.
Yet nudity itself often remains socially trapped behind emotional reflexes, assumptions, caricatures, or sensationalism before meaningful analysis can even begin.
NaturismRE chose to challenge that barrier.
The encyclopedias were conceived and initiated by Vincent Marty, Founder of NaturismRE and the NRE Health Institute, as part of a broader long-term initiative focused on structured public education, institutional understanding, and evidence-based analysis relating to naturism, nudism, and non-sexual public nudity.
The project was further developed through an international collaborative effort coordinated under the NaturismRE and NRE Health Institute ecosystem.
The result is a multilingual educational platform combining:
multiple encyclopedia volumes
structured sections
supporting libraries
institutional frameworks
public education systems
analytical references
indexes
infographics
research-oriented content
into a unified ecosystem.
One important decision was made early: the digital encyclopedias would remain publicly accessible for free.
The objective was not to create another gated knowledge platform available only to paying members.
The objective was to maximise public access to structured understanding.
Perhaps the most interesting question is no longer:
“Why would a nudism encyclopedia exist without nudity?”
Perhaps the real question is:
Why has society struggled for so long to create spaces where nudity and naturism can be discussed seriously without immediately collapsing into sensationalism, fear, ridicule, or misunderstanding?
The NaturismRE encyclopedias are one attempt to change that dynamic.
